Universal Church of Truth (Earth-21923)

The Universal Church of Truth was a religious empire composed of diverse alien species from all across the universe. The central object of its worship was its leader, Galactus. They conquer throughout the universe as they did with the former Spartax Empire.

The church feared the former monarch Star-Lord who they believed would come in contact with a special relic with unknown abilities. They sent fellow member Gadiator to follow the Star-Lord to Earth.^[1]

The Church's next target was New Xandar, home to the peace-keeping organization the Nova Corps. Their humongous fleet invaded the surface with the Black Knights but were pushed back by the effort of the Corps and their leader Nova-Prime. As the Order pretended that they were defeated by pulling their ships back they released Galactus, which covered the planet with a huge shadow.^[2]

As Galactus was consuming New Xanadar, the Matriarch received a message from Pulsar informing her that Star-Lord had yet to find the Ultimate Nullifier and that Earth no longer had heroes to defend it. So, the Church chose to make Earth their next target.^[3]

The Church eventually arrived on Earth in preparation to conquer it once Galactus consumed all life on it. However, Galactus was unexpectedly defeated when Star-Lord lobotomized him with a Time Stone shard. This lifted the mind control the Church had over the enslaved crews on mot of their ships, forcing the Church to retreat with its remaining forces.^[4]
