Bucky Barnes & Winter Soldier[]
This should probably be merged with the normal Bucky Barnes page, but you could also say that the Winter Soldier is a new character in an older character's body. Kokushishin 01:19, 29 December 2005 (Eastern Standard Time)
Winter Soldier's Bionic arm made of[]
Many people asked questions on "What type of metal is Winter Soldier cybernetic arm is made out of?". To answer the questions is unknown, but the arm have a lot of technology inside the bionic arm and is very useful in many options.(() 14:02, November 19, 2017 (UTC)) -- - The preceding unsigned comment was added by StealthKSOP (talk • contribs).
I heard that people know the Winter Soldier as a ordinary man with a metal arm, but that is not true. If so, he will be defeated by opponents that he fight.(() 23:59, November 19, 2017 (UTC))
The Story Of Winter Soldier Gain Powers From Infinity Serum.[]
The origin flashbacks of James received the dose called Infinity serum was in the event named Fear Itself. After his middle chest been terribly wounded, it most likely shown his broken bones, destroyed muscles and his heart was simply penetrate from the energy spear by Skadi. Soon later at a secret base, the experiment scientist was talking with Nick Fury and decided to give him the dose serum that would not only save his life, but also gave him other powers to have regeneration healing which permanently bond the cells in his body.(WhiteyStone (talk) 16:23, December 23, 2017 (UTC))
Infinity Formula/Powers and Abilities[]
Did the Infinity Formula really enhance Bucky's physicals? Because I read the comics and there's no evidence to support that. SuperFan95 (talk) 05:31, August 5, 2020 (UTC)
- I'm pretty sure Bucky wasn't enhanced by the Infinity Formula. SuperFan95 (talk) 06:10, September 17, 2020 (UTC)
- Reopening this discussion as I agree, the effect of the Infinity Formula has not been described. All that Fury says in Fear Itself #7.1 is that this is his last dose of Infinity Formula and that what prolongs his life might save Bucky's heart. Bucky lives, but there's no discussion of long-term enhancement effects and no dialogue that it "gave him other powers to have regeneration healing which permanently bond the cells in his body" that WhiteyStone claims above. I don't believe there's been a Handbook published since then to address his stats. Monolith616 (talk) 17:51, 4 December 2024 (UTC)
- Although not a primary source, I checked 2019's Marvel Encyclopedia: New Edition, and it makes no mention of the Infinity Formula in the blurb about Bucky's powers in his profile, so I'm inclined to agree. I'd go ahead and remove the mentions of the Infinity Formula from his Attributes section, but I am not very knowledgeable on Barnes. The article as it currently stands attributes a lot of strength, durability and stamina feats to the Infinity Formula, but since we're barring it, Bucky doesn't seem to have any powers other than training and his bionic arm. So I'm wondering if there is anything that could explain all of these feats, whether they should be chalked up to artistic license of what the human body is capable of, or if they're misattributed hyperbole. A lot of these references even predate Bucky being injected with the Infinity Formula.

Name[]
Other character pages do not usually include middle names (e.g. "Peter Parker" instead of "Peter Benjamin Parker"). I suggest a move.
One thing I'm not sure about is that he is typically known as "Bucky" and that seems to be derived from his middle name, "Buchanan." Sometimes middle names are used like with Bruce Banner. So, I'm not 100% confident which name to use and I'm not well-versed in the comic character. Does anyone know if he commonly goes by James when not using "Bucky"? Lightning Laxus (talk) 11:42, 14 November 2022 (UTC)
- I've always got the impression that "James Buchanan" is his first name -- it's a compound name, like "Billy Joe" or "Mary Elizabeth". If he has a middle name, it has not been revealed. - SuperFan24K (talk) 01:04, 15 November 2022 (UTC)
- Handbooks call him "James Barnes." Lightning Laxus (talk) 17:50, 14 February 2023 (UTC)
Bucky's age, pre-retcon?[]
Was it ever stated how old Bucky was in the original, golden age comics? Before the Brubaker run made him older. Was he supposed to be 12 when he met Steve at Camp Lehigh? 15? Was it ever stated, or just was it that he was "too young to enlist?" --TimPendragon (talk) 10:16, 16 January 2024 (UTC)
