History
Father Mullen was the parish priest of St. Finnian of Clonard Catholic Church in Hell's Kitchen. In his early days as Daredevil, Matt went to the church confiding in Father Mullen, not to believe the news that he had killed a man and to trust him. Father Mullen later went to Nelson and Murdock's law office asking for their involvement in a church lease dispute that the city's land board was contesting, and after some hesitation on Matt's part, Father Mullen told Matt that he had saw his father Battlin' Jack Murdock in a boxing match facing Rocky Davis, a boxer who was much bigger and younger than him but who did not discourage him from facing him causing Matt to take the case without getting paid. Managing to get a stay of the trial about the church lease, Matt followed William Doyle to the church where Foggy Nelson and Father Mullen were being tied up and beaten by Stewart Nagle and his men. Daredevil intervened by defeating the criminals and freeing the couple, and then they made Doyle confess thanks to Father Mullen, discovering that they were brothers and that Doyle had killed his father in the past.[1]
