Nightmare (Earth-12041)

Early Life[]

Nightmare is an ancient demon who once confronted Doctor Strange on his attempts to escape the Dream Dimension. He failed and remained trapped for years.

Strange Days[]

After a while, Nightmare escaped the Dream Dimension and induced New York City residents into an endless sleep and fed on their nightmares. When Doctor Strange brought Spider-Man and Iron Fist to the Dream Dimension, he approached them with Dreamstalker and send the Dreamons after them and fought against Strange.

After Iron Fist and Spider-Man appeared in the dream world of K'un-Lun, he transformed into Shou-Lao and tried to scare off Iron Fist and pushed Spider-man to Strange. He scared Strange into believing him that he was powerless. Nightmare grew bigger and conjured up the ultimate nightmare for Spider-Man, the death of Uncle Ben. Nightmare was in shock when Spider-Man didn't show any fear. After he was slammed through a wall, Nightmare grew weaker of his weakness that was realized by Spider-Man that he became weaker after the victim realized that it was a nightmare. Iron Fist defeated the Shou-Lao dragon Nightmare. After that, Nightmare was sealed into a box by the combined efforts of Strange, Spider-Man, and Iron Fist.^[1]

• Immortality: As a demon, Nightmare is immune to age & illness.
• Spell Casting: He was able to cast a sleeping spell over New York.
• Fear Absorption: Nightmare can absorb the psychic energies generated by nightmares to further enhance his powers.
• Mastery of the Dream Dimension: Nightmare is the lord of the Dream Dimension. His powers are strongest at the Dream Dimension.
  • Reality Warping: Nightmare, once he has enough power, can warp reality within the dream dimension itself.
  • Shapeshifting: Nightmare can change his shape into animals
  • Size Alteration: Nightmare can alter his body size, making him look larger and bigger than normal
  • Illusion: Nightmare can create multiple illusion copies of himself
  • Concussive Blasts: Nightmare can project concussive energy blasts from his hands
  • Power Negation: He was able to negate the powers of Doctor Strange.
  • Telekinesis: He is able to shove Spider-man onto the goblin throne with just a hand gesture as well as turn the entire area upside down.
  • Pyrokinesis: He can project balls of fire.
