Nico Minoru (Earth-199999)

Nico Minoru was a goth teen who experimented with magic and the occult after the death of her sister Amy.^[1] She joined the Runaways after discovering her parents' involvement in PRIDE's human sacrifices, eventually going on the run.^[2]

She accidentally discovered that her mother Tina kept a magical staff in their house, and Tina later claimed that it was a piece of advanced technology that was designed to respond to her own DNA. Because of it, Nico was also able to operate the Staff.^[3] Nico eventually began a relationship with her teammate Karolina Dean.

After Nico went on the run, Tina reclaimed the Staff^[2], but later handed it back to her after the Staff recognized Nico as its new owner.^[4] Use of the Staff eventually caused Nico to tap further into the power of the Dark Dimension,^[5] which led to Morgan Le Fay into contacting her and seeking her trust in order to gain the Staff.^[6]

• Dark Magic: Nico is a natural-born sorceress with the ability to use magic from the Dark Dimension. Even having magical aptitude, she received little training, relying mostly on the Staff of One to work magic. By saying Reveal Yourself, she opened a small window into the Dark Dimension.^[6]
  • Flight: Nico was able to use her powers to move herself and others through the air and simulate a limited approximation of flight. 
  • Teleportation: Nico can teleport people to other places. By saying Tenebrae!, she made the Gibborim vanish, but sent all the Runaways to the Dark Dimension.^[7] When Nico attempted to reuse the spell, it only made stuffed animals appear.^[6]
  • Summoning: Nico can make the Staff of One emerge from her body. The staff appears out of her chest, passing through her skin and clothing without harm.
  • Shockwave Generation: By saying Smash!, Nico can generate shockwaves which produce enough force to push people away and knock them down.

• Occultism

Staff of One: Originally attuned to its user, the Staff responded to both verbal and nonverbal commands and required a small amount of blood is required to activate and operate it.^[8] The staff later become a part of Nico.

• Elemental Manipulation: Nico has shown to be capable to manipulate and command nature at her will. She can use her magic to manipulate the elements around her.
  • Aerokinesis: Nico can use her control over elements to create a localised whirlwind around herself.
  • Geokinesis: By saying Wall!, Nico reated fissures on the runaway in front of a pursuing car.^[4]
  • Pyrokinesis: While training with the Runaways, Nico could controlate fire caused by the Fistigons.
  • Weather Manipulation: Nico can make snow using the staff.
• Flight: By saying Sail!, Nico made, Karolina, Tandy Bowen, and herself fly to a building across the street.^[9]
• Electrokinesis: By saying Hotwire!, she made the Runaways' Rolls-Royce start.^[4]
• Technokinesis: By saying Radio On, she turned on a radio in the hostel.^[10] By saying, Blur!, she blurred the footage in the security cameras.^[11]
• Sensory Tracking: By saying Show Us the Way to Alex, the staff led Nico and the others to Alex Wilder.^[12]
• Force Field: Nico can create powerful force shields. By saying Protect Us!, she reated a forcefield to stop bullets from being shot at her and the others. By saying Shield Off, she deactivated the "protect us!" spell cast by Nico.^[12] By saying Block!, she ceated a barrier that stopped a shot from the Fistigons.^[4]
• Telekinesis: Nico can magically levitate and move objects. By saying Fortress!, she owered down blast doors on every entrance and window of the hostel.^[5]
• Immobilization: By saying Pause!, she made AWOL and his gang stand still.^[13]
• Sound Manipulation: Using her staff, Nico can create zones of total silence.
• Sleep Inducement: Nico can cause instant unconsciousness in her enemies by using her staff.
