History
Nephren-Ka was an Egyptian pharaoh.
He eventually brought the Shining Trapezohedran, an artifact older than time and brought to Earth by the Old Ones, and become an evil ruler. He ordered the Shining Trapezohedran to be buried with him, and upon his death, his deeds caused him to have his name to be stricken from all records.[1]Notes
- Nephren-Ka first appeared in H.P. Lovecraft's The Outsider (written in March-August, 1921, and published in April, 1926).
- According to Lin Carter, his mention in "The Haunter of the Dark" (published in Weird Tales; December, 1936; and adapted by Ron Goulart and Gene Colan in Journey Into Mystery (Vol. 2) #4; April, 1973), an answer to Robert Bloch's "The Shambler from the Stars" (Weird Tales; September, 1935; adapted in Journey Into Mystery (Vol. 2) #3 (February, 1973), is a reference from Lovecraft to one of Bloch's best story "Fane of the Black Pharaoh" (published only in 1938, but whose manuscript had been read by Lovecraft), centered on Nephren-Ka.[2]
