Overview[]
The Molina were Russian criminal organizations which during the time of the Soviet Union where black marketeers of consumer goods and services (e.g. denim jeans).[1][8] In the aftermath of the fall of the Soviet Union, they grew, expanded their operations, and went international (e.g. the United States).[1][9][10]
They were involved in a variety of criminal activities, including; drug trafficking, protection rackets, arms trafficking, smuggling, counterfeit goods, and illegal gambling.[1][9][11][10][12] The most technologically advanced of the Molina were the Solntsevskaya Bratva, which had access to mind control devices and power dampening technology, and A.I.M. weaponry.[3][13] For a time the Koschei Family of New York City were controlled by the goddess Baba Yaga.[14]
In the process they came into conflict with various super heroes, vigilantes, and government agencies. Most significantly with Punisher the vigilante, the Daredevil, the mutant Maverick, the Avenger Hawkeye, and the agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.[15][16][17][18][19][20][21][1] The Molina has in the past allied with the Triads and gone to war with both the Maggia and A.I.M.[1][22][23]
