Marvel partners with VeVe for all of its NFT ventures
Marvel NFTs are non-fungible tokens sold in official partnership with Marvel Entertainment. Marvel began selling NFTs in August of 2021.
History[]
Marvel announced in June 2021 that it would be entering the NFT industry for the first time through a partnership with the digital marketplace app, VeVe. The action was said to be focused on giving purchasers the ability to collect digital goods in the same way that they collected physical items. VeVe's app allowed users to view purchased NFTs in AR and VR, as well as to other users through digital showrooms.[1][2] Less than two months later, Marvel released its first set of NFTs onto the VeVe platform, a set of five differently posed Spider-Man digital 3D models. Each model was priced between $40 and $400 apiece in their initial offering.[3] These were shortly followed by digital versions of classic Marvel comics that were readable within the VeVe app set for sale within the same month.[4]
In August 2022, Marvel and VeVe sold three single copies of digital variant comic book cover artwork for $1,500 each.[5]
NFT-exclusive Brands[]
Marvel Mightys[]

Beginning with their second-ever set of NFT releases, Marvel and VeVe began producing a set of digital statues known as Marvel Mightys.[6] Marvel Mightys were characterized by their cutesy appearance and typically each NFT featured a 3D model of a single Marvel character in the signature Mightys style. Ocassionally Mightys have been sold alone, but more typically they are sold in "series" where an entire set of NFTs are all made available for purchase at the same time, of various rarities. New sets of Marvel Mightys have been released every year since 2021 into 2024.
Venomized crafting event[]

At the end of 2023, Marvel and VeVe launched a "Venomized crafting event" in which four series of Marvel Mightys NFTs were slowly put on sale from December 2023 to April 2024. After the four series were released, a "symbiote" NFT was released which could be "used up" (deleted) if the user owned certain other Marvel Mightys in their inventory from the event. Upon being "used up" with another Venomized-eligible NFT from the player's inventory, the symbiote NFT would be deleted and the user would be allowed to purchase a specific "Venomized" version of the character they chose for free. (This only deleted the symbiote NFT, it did not delete the original, un-venomized character NFT as well.)[7] New venomized statues were avaialable to be purchased via "crafting" until April 28, 2025.[8]

Marvel Mightys - Avengers: Series 1[]

These NFTs were special because they were the first of four Marvel Mightys series that were a part of a "Symbiote crafting event". Via the event, after the four series were released, a "symbiote" NFT was released which could be "used up" (deleted) if the user owned certain other Marvel Mightys in their inventory, and the symbiote NFT would be replaced with a "Venomized" version of the character that the user chose. (This only deleted the symbiote NFT, it did not delete the original, un-venomized character NFT as well.)[22]
2024 series[]
Marvel Mightys - X-Men: Heroes[]
On January 7, 2024, VeVe released a series of X-Men Marvel Mightys digital statues. These NFTs were special because they were the second of four Marvel Mightys series that were a part of a "Symbiote crafting event". Via the event, after the four series were released, a "symbiote" NFT was released which could be "used up" (deleted) if the user owned certain other Marvel Mightys in their inventory, and the symbiote NFT would be replaced with a "Venomized" version of the character that the user chose. (This only deleted the symbiote NFT, it did not delete the original, un-venomized character NFT as well.)[23]
Marvel Mightys - Avengers: Series 2[]
On March 3, 2024, VeVe released a another series of Avengers Marvel Mightys digital statues. These NFTs were special because they were the third of four Marvel Mightys series that were a part of a "Symbiote crafting event". Via the event, after the four series were released, a "symbiote" NFT was released which could be "used up" (deleted) if the user owned certain other Marvel Mightys in their inventory, and the symbiote NFT would be replaced with a "Venomized" version of the character that the user chose. (This only deleted the symbiote NFT, it did not delete the original, un-venomized character NFT as well.)[24]
Marvel Mightys – X-Men: Villains[]
On April 27, 2024, VeVe released a series of X-Men villains Marvel Mightys digital statues. (This only deleted the symbiote NFT, it did not delete the original, un-venomized character NFT as well.)[24][25]
Marvel Mightys - Venomized series[]
On April 28, 2024, VeVe released a series of "Venomized" Marvel Mightys digital statues. These NFTs were special because they could only be purchased for free by first buying certain NFT statues from the previously four released Marvel Mightys series that were a part of a "Symbiote crafting event" and then by purchasing a "symbiote" NFT that would then need to be "used up" (deleted). (This only deleted the symbiote NFT, it did not delete the original, un-venomized character NFT as well.) Using up the symbiote NFT would then result in one single "Venomized" character becoming available for purchase to the user for free.[26]
Six days prior to the Venomized series, the Symbiote NFT statue to be used for obtaining the Venomized characters was released by VeVe on April 22, 2024.[27]
New York Comic Con[]
