Whiplash worked for Mr. Fix in order to pay off his prosthetic arms. He acted as Fix's bodyguard/errand boy.

After Justin Hammer forced Mr. Fix to work for him, Whiplash also started working for Hammer.^[1]

During the period Hammer was being blackmailed, Iron Man mentioned that Whiplash was destroyed in a car compacter.^[2]

Whiplash has cybernetic hands that are capable of extending linked chains that can then be electrified.
