History
Jake Conover was a reporter for the Daily Bugle covering crime stories. When Bullseye made his first appearance as a criminal, he started by giving Conover an interview to make himself known.[1]
Conover saved the life of the crime boss Don Fortunato. After being laid off from the Bugle, he developed a hatred for Joe Robertson and J. Jonah Jameson. He was given the Rose identity by Don Fortunato.[2][3]Attributes

- Jake Conover wrote the article The Kid Who Collects Spider-Man! which appeared in Amazing Spider-Man #248.
- The Rose appeared as a part of Nguyen Ngoc Coy's alliance against Don Fortunato in Spider-Man #73-74, by Howard Mackie and John Romita Jr.; since the Rose's secret identity was a plot featured in Tom DeFalco's Amazing Spider-Man, it could be presumed that Mackie and Romita did not even know who DeFalco wanted to be under the Rose's mask, so Romita mistakenly drew Conover identical to Richard Fisk, the original Rose.
