Horatio Piper (Earth-616)

Horatio Piper was a professor at Empire State University. He brought the unusual white African chieftan Micah Synn to New York City under the auspices of the University and attempted to assimilate him into society.

Piper spent most of his time cancelling media events while trying to contain Synn's boorish behavior and excessive violence.

Too late he realized what savages he'd brought to civilization when Synn practically admitted they were attempting to hold human sacrifices. When the opportunity presented itself for Debbie Nelson, with whom Micah had been having an abusive affair with, to escape, Piper provided a distraction. However, he ran beneath a stake-covered slab in front of the Kinjorge's idol while doing so, and Micah's shaman cut the rope holding it up, killing the professor.
