History

Hans Thysenn was a spy for the Nazis during World War II. By the spring of 1944, he was working for the El Rancho Packing Company, which provided meat to the United States military. From this position, he and his network of spies set up a secret hideout hidden behind a waterfall along the route between the packing plant and the military facility they delivered to. After the meat was approved by government inspectors, the trucks then drove to this secret hideout where the trucks filled with cyanide tainted meat would continue the trip and deliver the meat.

Their first shipment made soldiers at a Pacific Coast military base ill, killing 10 soldiers. This prompting the Human Torch and Toro to investigate. Going to the plant, they met with Thysenn who showed the heroes that there was nothing amiss at the packing plant. However, the Torch and Toro followed the shipment and noticed the switch and broke up the secret hideout. Although the spies inside committed suicide, they revealed that Thysenn was the mastermind behind the plot.

When the Torch and Toro returned to the packing plant, Thysenn and his men were ready. They doused the heores flames with ammonia bombs and then knocked them out. With a storm approaching, Hans then tied them up in an empty water tower with a running hose expecting the water that filled up the tank to drown them. Preparing another shipment of tainted meat, Hans personally escorted the convoy this time around. This proved to be his undoing as the Torch freed his hand from the water and tossed fireballs outside of the tank, spooking the cattle on the property and causing them to stampede. The cattle knocked over the trucks and trampled Thysenn and his men to death.[1]
