Gluemy Miller and his family move to Webberton for an opportunity his father has there. While there, Gluemy is tormented at Spider High by people such as bully Fish and his friends, he shows an interest in Fish's girlfriend (not knowing she is that) named Sailor. Fish suspects this and so as a prank to see if it's true, he sends Gluemy a note pretending to be Sailor, when Gluemy shows up he and his friends hunt after them. Gluemy temporarily loses them and tries to use the basment to hide but Fish finds him and throws him into the basement causing his neck to snap. As he lay dying, he is saved by the mysterious Spooky-Man a mythical demon that the school fears.

Being possessed by the Spooky-Man causes Gluemy's skin to go pale and he begins to see the Spooky-Man. When the Sinnerster Six takes over the school, Gluemy is forced to bond with the Spooky-Man to save it. In the process he saves Sailor who hints that she may reciprocate his feelings, Spooky-Man advises he keep at Sailor and not give up despite Fish.
