Blightspoke is the realm of collapsed realities.

Opal Luna Saturnyne[source]

Blightspoke is a province of the Foul Courts within Otherworld, a hazardous wasteland created by the collapse of shattered realities.[2]

History

Origins[]

Blightspoke originated during the Incursion crisis, when colliding Earths threatened the existence of both universes as part of the Beyonders’ machinations to end the Multiverse. It became a place—more a cemetery than a home—for the shattered remnants of failed realities. Saturnyne, capturing a Mapmaker, ventured through a rift and arrived in Blightspoke. She later used the Mapmaker’s fragments as a weapon to destroy both Merlyn and Roma.[3]

Cosmic Cemetery[]

Blightspoke is a hazardous and inhospitable land, where the environment leeches life and poses significant threats to those who attempt to explore it. The realm serves as a repository for the remnants of collapsed realities, containing dangerous elements such as irradiated areas, ruins scorched by dragonfire, and debris from celestial beings. These hazardous remnants make the land highly dangerous, with few surviving the risks long enough to claim any valuable resources.[2]

Sheriff Gia Whitechapel, along with her posse, is a notable figure in Blightspoke. Known for her exceptional marksmanship and law enforcement skills, she assists travelers navigating the realm, though her services come at a high cost.[2][4]

Blightswill, a liquid derived from Blightspoke’s soil, has the distinct ability to temporarily neutralize mutant powers, making it highly sought after across Otherworld.[5]

Notable Events[]

  • The Krakoa-Arakko Tournament: During Saturnyne’s tournament to resolve the Krakoa-Arakko conflict, Wolverine was sent to Blightspoke, where he battled Summoner in a constantly warping reality.[5] Magik and Cable also embarked on a treasure hunt in the realm.[6] Following the tournament, Saturnyne commanded her Summoners and the Vescora to mine Blightspoke’s riches, strengthening her Crooked Market.[7]
  • Excalibur’s Expedition: Excalibur, alongside the Beast, journeyed to Blightspoke to gather soil samples. Their efforts were briefly interrupted by Sheriff Whitechapel, who allowed them to proceed after ensuring the samples would remain within the realm.[4]
  • Merlyn’s Reign: During Merlyn’s conquest of Otherworld, he deployed the Vescora to seize control of Blightspoke and imprison Sheriff Whitechapel and her posse. Blightswill refineries were established, exporting the substance under his regime. The Knights of X intervened, battling the Vescora and liberating Whitechapel. In a final stand, Whitechapel's posse seemingly sacrificed themselves by sabotaging the refinery.[8]
  • Orchis’ Occupation: The anti-mutant organization Orchis established an outpost in Blightspoke, using the captured mutant Redroot to grow ingredients for refining Blightswill. Sunfire infiltrated the realm to recover Redroot, receiving aid from Sheriff Whitechapel. Despite being briefly captured by Orchis under Moira X’s orders, Sunfire destroyed the outpost and successfully freed Redroot.[9]
Since Saturnyne’s fall, Blightspoke has grown increasingly unstable, with her Summoners scattered and warped by the realm’s toxic soil. The future of this desolate province remains uncertain.[10]
