The history of Adam Warlock seems to be the same of his Earth-616's counterpart, including the moment when Star-Lord killed him to prevent he turned into Magus.
After those events Adam "resurrected" in a mysterious way, it really wasn't him but a counterpart from another universe, but all of his allies and enemies believed he was the original.[1].
