There are four different types of Coins—Small Coins, Bronze Coins, Silver Coins, and Gold Coins. Each of them are worth a specific number of points: Small Coins are worth 10 points; Bronze Coins are worth 50 points; Silver Coins are worth 100 points; and Gold Coins are worth 500 points. Coins are also used as currency at the Mini-Game Shop. They are revealed mainly from defeating enemies, breaking blocks, and opening boxes. A Coin disappears a while after being spawned.

In Wildflower Fields, Coins can be obtained from flowers. The number of coins that a flower drops depends on how long Wario waits after Beezleys have pollinated the flowers.

There are two similar items, Blue Crystals and Red Crystals. The main difference both items have from Coins is that they are in midair and do not disappear. Blue Crystals are worth 10 points, just like Small Coins, whereas Red Crystals are worth 100 points, just as with Silver Coins. Diamonds are another source of points, specifically 1,000 points, and are the most valuable way of earning them.
