Mary Saotome (早乙女 芽亜里, Saotome Meari) is the deuteragonist of Kakegurui: Compulsive Gambler and the main protagonist of its spin-off prequel series Kakegurui Twin. She is a student at Hyakkaou Private Academy and the former rival of Yumeko Jabami.

She is voiced by Minami Tanaka. In the Bang Zoom! dub, she is voiced by Kira Buckland. In the Sentai dub, she is voiced by Christina Kelly.

What Makes Her Magnificent?[]

• She was among the top gamblers at Hyakkakou Academy before her loss against Yumeko, and prior to when the series even began.
• Teaming up with her former enemy Yumeko to trick Jun Kiwatari into betting the entirety of his chips during a game of Indian Poker, thus freeing Mary of her debt to the student council while leaving Jin's own financials in ruin. Given how rude and narcissistic he was, it can be very well argued that he did deserve this.
• When the Student Council President offers Mary's seat to the winner of her gambling tournament, Mary herself takes the time to carefully study and analyze the deck's specific shuffling pattern, thus successfully defeating the Vice President of the academy and winning the game. *By doing this, she additionally saved Yumeko from being lethally poisoned thanks to the latter's life having been put on the line by the game.
• During the series' final game, she intimidated her opponents in order to get the upper hand via tactics such as betting against them, which later allows her to uncovering the identity of the mastermind of the games.
• While she was initially introduced as snobbish and narcissistic, she learned how difficult life truly was for students of lower levels once she found herself in the position of a housepet thanks to her loss to Yumeko. And as a result, she decided to fight against the student council and for the freedom of the housepets.

What Makes Her A Baddie?[]

• She was originally callous and elitist, as shown by her mocking the housepet Ryota.
• She isn't above cheating during certain situations, unlike Yumeko.
