Warning! Spoiler! The article says that The Newcomes "is considered by many to be Thackeray's masterpiece, and one of the finest English novels ever written." Who thinks so? Why? The novel is worth reading, but I don't agree that it's Thackeray's masterpiece, much less "one of the finest English novels." It is too long and soap-opera like, and the characters are not all that appealing. The death of Clive's first wife in childbirth is just too convenient. I got the feeling that Thackeray was tired of writing it and so straightened out all the tangled threads in the course of a comparatively few pages.Philippachaucer (talk) 05:17, 24 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Take: The Newcomes/Comments

Why is a book about Roosevelt listed in the notes section? It has nothing to do with this work.
