First Contact (ファーストコンタクト, Fāsuto Kontakuto, "First Contact") is the one hundred and nineteenth chapter of Initial D.
Plot[]
Early in the morning, Takumi prepares for his tofu deliveries, when he notices the newly repaired Eight-Six is parked outside. Bunta tells Takumi that he had paid for the engine with money that he'd earned doing the deliveries, and so he's considering half owned by him. Takumi says he doesn't deserve it, as he was the one who broke the car, but Bunta reminds him that it wasn't his fault. Takumi pushes the clutch in, and instantly realises just how different the new engine is.
In her room, Natsuki thinks about what Takumi had said to her, and wonders how he had found out.
On Akina, Takumi does his first downhill run in the new Eight-Six. He finds the car difficult to control.
At the gas station the next day, Takumi tells Iketani and Kenji about the Eight-Six. Yuichi overhears, and excitedly waits to hear Takumi gush about the Eight-Six. Iketani and Kenji pry for details, and Takumi tells them that the engine is slower than the old one, much to everyone's shock.
Elsewhere, Itsuki is on a walk, and admires an AE86 Levin parked on the side of the road.
