Mel is one of the Minions. He serves as one of the major characters of Despicable Me 3, and one of the supporting characters in Despicable Me 4.

After Gru gets fired and tells the Minions the sad news, Mel shows him that him doing villainy is good and him doing normal stuff is bad. They all riot, but when Gru refuses to go back to villainy, they all leave him. They first tried to steal some pizza but then they got noticed by the police. They try to start a dance in the talent show to cover their tracks, but then they get arrested.

At some point, Mel realizes how much he misses Gru and the Minions all build up a ship to fly back to home. However, when they saw Hollywood in danger, Mel orders the Minions to launch over there and break the gum that would send everybody to space. He reunites with Gru, but his brother Dru convinces them to go back to villainy again.

He's voiced by Pierre Coffin, who also voiced Kevin from the same franchise.

What Makes Him Admirable?[]

He had a nice relationship with both Gru and Dr. Nefario as shown in flashbacks.
Missing Gru, he was the one who came up with the idea over the Minions escaping prison by building a ship.
When Hollywood was covered in Bubble Gum and was about to fly up into space, Mel had all of the Minions pop it, saving thousands of lives.
He had a beautiful reunion with his old master Gru.
Even after he goes back to villainy again, he still retains his affabililty to Gru and stayed obedient to his new master Dru.
Although Gru, Lucy, and Dru were more admirable, they had more resources than him and were busy with different roles to play in stopping Balthazar Bratt.
He lost his On & Off status in the fourth film as he came to stop Maxime le Mal along with the other Mega Minions and is no longer evil.

What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]

He has a couple of mischievous moments such as performing an inappropriate dance with the other Minions.
He is a control freak as he wants Gru to only do villainy after he got fired from the AVL and was unable to accept that he won't.
He and the other Minions were jerks to Fritz in spite of him not doing anything bad to them yet.
He has a Punt The Puppy moment where he left a Minion behind in jail when they were escaping despite his cries of help.
He is incompetent as he caused a bunch of mishaps on a city during his trials as Cyclops.

Trivia[]

He, along with Kevin, are one of two Minions to be Inconsistently Admirable.
He is the only Mega Minion to be morally ranked, and also the only one to be Inconsistently Admirable.
