Gin Ichimaru is a major antagonist of the manga/anime franchise Bleach. He was the captain of the 3rd Division of the Gotei 13 until his betrayal of the Soul Society (alongside Sōsuke Aizen and Kaname Tōsen) and the childhood friend and love interest of Rangiku Matsumoto.

What Makes Him Admirable?[]

• Giving food to a young Rangiku who had collapsed on the ground from starvation.
• While he did join forces with Aizen, he only did so in order to learn more about him by observing his abilities in order to increase his chances of being able to kill him later on.
• As the Third Captain of the Soul Society, the chance that he protected it from threats in the past is quite plausible.
• Denouncing the idea that he was just as cruel as Aizen and his minions, showing that he has standards.
• With all of Aizen's ability knowledge, he sacrificed himself by betraying him and stabbing him in the heart before taking his Hogyoku on him. And if it wasn't for Aizen's massive Reiatsu, he would have successfully killed him off once and for all.

What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]

• He spends almost the entirety of the series as a villain responsible for the murder of 5th Squad's 3rd seat as a child and assisting Aizen in multiple villainous deeds. However, he did these with good intentions since he had been secretly planning to kill him the whole time, but his time as a villain is still far too severe for him to be NPG or PG.
• His status as a servant of Aizen who helps carry out his atrocities but secretly plots to kill his master himself makes him a morally grey character.
• Even when putting his villainy aside, he has several massive corrupting qualities such as being mischievous, lethal and sadistic.

• He and Uryū Ishida are the only Bleach characters to be Inconsistently Admirable.
