Nomdieu (ノームデュー, Nōmudyū) was a Greed Island player,[1] hired by Battera, and a founding member of an alliance formed to clear the game.[2]
Appearance[]
Nomdieu was a fat man with short bushy hair and a big snub nose. He wore a plain pinstriped shirt, plain pants, and shoes.
Personality[]
Like his fellow alliance members, he had an informative personality with extensive knowledge on the game.[2]
Plot[]
Greed Island arc[]
Nickes brings Gon and Killua as potential recruits to Nomdieu and three other alliance members as well as other three other potential recruits. The alliance member Genthru first explains that there are no spell cards in the game that can kill players and that only Nen abilities are able to do that in the game—something that's being done, player hunters. Nickes and Assam then go over the basics of obtaining cards in the game and how the alliance accumulates most of them. It's also mentioned that they have collected 67 of the 100 specified slot cards and hope to beat the game soon.[2]
While Isaac states that they have methods of keeping cards safe by storing them in hidden places, Nomdieu corroborates that it's a risk-free way of having one's cards stolen by other players. Puhat then asks about the payout, and Nomdieu notes that all of the potential recruits were most likely hired by Battera and that he and the other alliance members were as well. Nickes then proclaims that they will beat the game within three months, and Puhat and another player eventually agree to join. Gon, Killua, and another player refuse the offer. Afterward, outside the city of Antokiba, the alliance members wait until Jispa arrives and use a "Leave" card on the two new members. With them gone, Nickes, Jispa, and Genthru talk about the payout and how it may affect their earnings. Nickes and Genthru start to argue over it, but are stopped by Assam, who reminds them that Nomdieu and Isaac are within hearing distance.[2]
A few months later, Nickes announces to the other alliance members that they have accumulated 90 specified slot cards and are now close to beating the game. Genthru then makes his own announcement, revealing that he's the Bomber. The revelation shocks the alliance members and in retaliation, Jispa tries to subdue Genthru, but is fatally injured by Genthru's Little Flower ability.[3] Genthru then explains how to disarm the bombs and reveals that this causes the makeshift bombs placed on all of them to activate. Genthru then proposes that if they bring him all their specified slot cards, he will deactivate all the bombs placed on them. Nickes tries to stop Genthru, but he escapes from the game. With Genthru gone, the alliance members start to panic and argue with one another, but Abengane remains calm and deduces how the bombs work.[4]
The following day, Nomdieu and many other members of the alliance wait at the Shiso Tree and are met by Bara, who presents them with the severed head of Puhat. Nickes gives in and hands over their cards to Genthru and his allies in the real world. When Nickes returns with the Bombers, Nomdieu and Assam ask why the bombs haven't been disarmed. After the Bombers check to see that they have all the cards, they simultaneously set off all of the bombs and kill nearly every member of the alliance.[5]
Nomdieu's name is mentioned in Gon's binder.[6]
Abilities & Powers[]
Since most of the alliance members joined because they lacked combat abilities, it can be assumed that Nomdieu also had none.[4]
Nen[]
Due to being able to access Greed Island, Nomdieu was capable of utilizing Nen.[7]
