Kurapika puts in a pair of contact lenses

Kurapika, on the way to his first job as a Hunter, puts in a pair of contact lenses to help conceal his Scarlet Eyes. He then goes to a large estate, where he is let inside. Kurapika and Melody meet again

Baise approaches Kurapika and immediately asks to kiss him on the lips, which Kurapika refuses. Instead, Kurapika makes his way over to Melody and greets her kindly. She notices his eye color has changed, saying she liked them better before, but remarks that his heartbreak is still as beautiful. Neon is briefly seen standing at a window upstairs before running off. The butler then comes to collect the three Hunters and bring them to another area, where Basho, Squala, and Tocino are sitting. They immediately identify Kurapika as a rookie, giving him a hard time. After waiting a while, the butler returns to explain their work contract to them.

Gon & Killua HXH 99 EP48 002

Back on Whale Island, the tape Ging left for Gon self-rewinds to erase the message Ging had left after the boys have finished listening to it, erasing the tape and ruining the copy they were trying to make of it. Killua speculates that Ging did this so that the boys couldn't use the tape to track him down. The boys instead turn their attention to the memory card in the box, which Killua says is for a JoyStation Console. They use Gon's computer to find a Joystation online for purchase.

At the mansion, the butler turns on a video of Dalzollene, Eliza, and another attendant. Dalzollene explains that he is willing to hire any number of the Hunters gathered there and that the following test will not be a competition between them. He instructs them to return an item from an assigned list and wishes them luck. The butler hands out a card to each Hunter with the list of items. Melody immediately notices a change in Kurapika's heartbeat when he receives his card.

Kurapika stands to fight the assailants

Basho tries to open the door to leave the room but finds it locked. Dalzollene comes back on the video and informs them that in six minutes, they will have to fight to get out of the room alive. A six-minute countdown then replaces the video. The Hunters patiently wait, not bothering to break out of the room. Squala and Kurapika briefly debate what they should do, but Kurapika convinces everyone to stay put. After a few minutes, Basho gets up to use the washroom, but as he goes to open the washroom door, several black-clad people storm the room, and Kurapika stands to take them on.
