Gamer Kid is a playable character in the toys-to-life game LEGO Dimensions. He is bundled with the Midway Arcade Level Pack, giving him his own story mode, which was released on March 15, 2016.
He was first seen playing the Midway classic game Defender on his phone. Then he noticed a bunch of random arcade game characters come out of the Coin-Op arcade. Confused as to what was going on, he entered the arcade. A guide tells him that it was foretold to him a Gamer of Legend would appear amidst the arcade's anarchic uprising. Evil powers have possessed the heroes of the once beloved arcade games and the whole world needs the Gamer's help in setting them free.
Abilities[]
Powers[]
In game, all characters have their own powers that are used to make certain things possible. An example is acrobat poles: only a character with the Acrobat ability can use them to solve the LEGO puzzles throughout the game. Gamer Kid's abilities are:
Super strength
Laser
Invulnerability
Stealth (Invisibility)
Speed
Heart Regen
As a character created specifically for LEGO Dimensions and a resident to that universe, unlike the many cross-over characters that comprise of basically every other playable character in the game, one of his abilities is also technically Respawning. Respawning is his only ability that is permenant, besides Regeneration, as all of his other abilities are only momentarily gained after he drinks his soda. The shirt he wears changes to indicate what power he'll gain after he drinks his soda.
Like all LEGO Dimensions characters, Gamer Kid has personal objects that are packaged with him. As a level pack character, Gamer Kid has two personal objects: the Arcade Machine and the G-6155 Spy Hunter. The Arcade Machine can be rebuilt into the 8-Bit Shooter, which is modeled after the Manti-Lander, as well as the Pixelator, a stationary turret which shoots pixelated lasers. The G-6155 Spy Hunter can be rebuilt into the Interdriver, his personal boat, and the Aerial Spyhunter, a flight ship that shoots lasers. Gamer Kid can use the Spy Hunter and Aerial Spyhunter to hook cargo when needed.
Trivia[]
He was created specifically for Lego Dimensions to represent the Midway Arcade Treasures games.
Gamer Kid breaks the 4th wall when he says "Game world within a game. Best trope ever".
His toy tag (base plate that is scanned in order to transport the figurine into the game) is designed based on the game Defender.
The icon on his green shirt is also based on Defender.
