Succubi are a subspecies of Hellborn Demons that have the second lowest ranking in Hell's hierarchy along with other unknown demon species.[1]

The species are known to have sexually intensifying abilities to humans.

Description[]

Succubi demons are in the second-lowest ranking tier in terms of Hell's hierarchy, ranking just above Imps and Hellhounds.

They are one of the few demons that are allowed access to the human world in order to do their jobs of seducing humans, the exact reasons for these actions are hitherto unknown. While in the living realm, they shapeshift into human forms as disguises to avoid detection from humans.

Notable Succubi[]

Biology[]

Appearance[]

Succubi possess voluptuous, yet human-like figures, stocky to slender, and have color schemes consist of black and red with a pinkish hue. They have black-tipped horns, a barbed tail, and small bat-like wings sprouting from their backs. The tip of their tail can be triangular or heart-like shaped. Succubi have yellow sclera with pink or red irises. They also possess human-like feet.

Succubi have some biological similarities to imps, including the lack of an obvious nose. Albeit, succubi are taller, have smaller horns, and possess more varied skin tones of pink and red. Some succubi also possess (pointed) ears, a rare trait for a demon.

Hair colors vary between succubi. They can be brunette, ravenette, grey, blonde, or even pink. Succubi can also be bald.

Abilities[]

  • Erokinesis - All succubi have the ability to enhance sexual desire in humans by exuding a supernatural allure, allowing them to seduce their targets. It is unknown to what degree regular demons are effected by this. However, Hellhounds appear to be either immune or resistant to these effects. The exact strength a succubi's manipulation against a human is unknown, as a small contingent of human law enforcement officers appeared initially unaffected by the presence of a group of succubi, whereas a large gathering of (alcohol inhibited) human partygoers were overwhelmingly affected by their presence.
    • Sexual Inducement - Succubi have the ability to trigger the sex hormones of anyone they make contact with upon sight, touch, or voice, and triggers anyone to become sexually active.
  • Human Shapeshifting - Certain succubi have the ability to project and shapeshift into any human form that they see fit. Some succubi cannot perfectly shapeshift, leaving some notable defects such as pointed ears or unnatural colored eyes.
  • Flight - All succubi have wings which allows them to fly.

Mortality[]

In "The Full Moon", a male succubus demon was shot in the head by a regular bullet from Collin's exoskeleton rifle and died, revealing that succubi can die to non-angelic weaponry, like imps and hellhounds.

Trivia[]

  • In mythology, the succubus is a demon that targets humans for sexual pleasure, though often causing suffering to their human partners in exchange for this. They are traditionally depicted as the embodiment of lust itself, as such they possess seductive figures, and are imbued with supernatural allure in order to captivate potential victims.
    • Traditionally, the term "succubus" refers to a female lust demon that targets men for sex, designating all succubi as female. Whereas, male succubi are referred to as "incubus", and traditionally target women for sex.
      • In the series, while incubi exist,[1] none have been identified; furthermore, all the members of Verosika's group have been collectively called succubi,[5][6] even though some of them are male.
        • Incubi were first officially mentioned in The King of Lust: Asmodeus, a grimoire seen in the episode, "The Circus".
    • The Talmudic figure Lilith is often associated with the succubus demon, if not the mother of all succubi and incubi, in occultism and Western folklore. Although Lilith is confirmed to be the same character in the series, it is unknown if she is connected to the species.
  • The aforementioned grimoire has a segment on "Asmodean Crystals". The segment, written in Nordic runes, translates as: "Bestowed to mainly Succubi and Incubi by the Sin of Lust, these crystals allow access to the mortal realm." This implies that, much like Stolas' personal grimoire, these crystals serve as a Succubus' only means to access the living world and must be obtained and registered by Asmodeus himself. This is reinforced in "The Full Moon", when, after Stolas gifts Blitzo with his own Asmodean Crystal, reveals that he would be under Asmodeus' name to use it.
  • The building I.M.P Headquarters is located in apparently has an entire floor dedicated to one or more succubus companies according to Vortex.
  • Due to their nature linked to sexual activities, Succubi are commonly found transiting in the Lust Ring, both as employees of establishments present there, and as customers of the different services provided there.
  • It is shown that when a succubus attempts to attract humans, they release images of floating hearts. It is unknown if these hearts are actually visible in-universe or if they are just meant for the viewers to know which of them are succubi.
