Overview

"Hiya! Welcome to Heaven. Can I get your name, please?"
―St. Peter, greeting Charlie and Vaggie

Saint Peter is an angel and a supporting character in Hazbin Hotel who made his debut in "Welcome to Heaven".

Appearance

St. Peter is a pale-skinned slim angel with curled, short pale-blonde hair, turquoise eyes with no pupils, and sharp-styled eyebrows colored royal blue. As an angel, he sports a white halo above his head, and a pair of large feathered wings on his back which are celeste blue and cream-colored.

He wears a light blue vest over a pale yellow shirt with the long sleeves sporting dull golden cuffs, and a light blue skirt with dull golden detailing that forms into a cross at the hem over a high-collared. He also wears a pastel red bowtie, and for footwear, he wears dull golden flats.

Personality

St. Peter appears to be a friendly person overall. He is welcoming to newcomers and visitors, even if they're demons. He is somewhat flirty, enjoying the company of attractive people, especially a muscular female angel.

However he is somewhat prone to being startled, freaking out when Charlie reveals herself to be Lucifer's daughter, wherein he lets a cuss word slip in surprise.

He may be a little absent-minded or he just doesn't pay much close attention to some things, as he doesn't recognize Charlie's last name "Morningstar" to be the same "Morningstar" in Lucifer's name, making him unable to make a conclusion that she is Lucifer's daughter until Charlie told him.

Abilities

  • Flight - As an Angel, he has wings that are capable of flight.
  • Gatekeeper - As the gatekeeper of heaven, he holds a vital role in granting entry to those seeking passage into heaven, ensuring that only deserving souls are admitted while safeguarding against any undesirable elements or discrepancies.

Skillset

  • Musical talent - He is adept at singing.

History

Past

Nothing is known about Peter's past except that at some point he would be given the title of "Saint" and became the Gatekeeper of Heaven.

Hazbin Hotel Season 1

"Welcome to Heaven"

Outside the gates of Heaven, St. Peter is standing with a large golden book of names to check who is permitted to enter Heaven.

When Charlie and Vaggie arrives Peter asks their names, and when Charlie answers he checks his book but is unable to find her name. After Charlie explains that her dad got her the meeting, Peter becomes incredibly shocked at the mention of Lucifer Morningstar, then asked if they were supposed to be there. Sera and Emily arrive and take over for Peter, and then Peter welcomes Charlie and Vaggie to Heaven and the trio of angels show them around.

Trivia

  • St. Peter is based on the character of St. Peter from the first century depicted in the Bible.[1]
    • St. Peter in the Bible was one the Twelve Apostles of Jesus Christ, as well as the first Pope, and later the Gatekeeper of Heaven upon his death. St. Peter in Hazbin Hotel also appears to be the Gatekeeper of Heaven, but it is unknown if he was previously human.
    • Most depictions of St. Peter as guardian of Heaven's gates are of an old man with a beard; in Hazbin Hotel, Peter is portrayed as much younger looking.
    • St. Peter's yellow and blue garment in Hazbin Hotel is a reference to how the biblical figure is often depicted wearing yellow and blue clothing in paintings. A Christian Cross can also be seen at the bottom of St. Peter's garment.
  • According to the Hazbin Hotel Playbill page posted on Vivziepop's Instagram, St. Peter is the lead singer in Heavens royal choir as well as the founder of the Angelic drama club. He is also an accomplished harp and French horn player in what he calls the "Sera-ymphany orchestra".[2]
