Yon Rha is a minor, but pivotal antagonist in the cartoon series, Avatar: The Last Airbender. He was a former Fire Nation general who was responsible for the death of Katara and Sokka's mother, Kya.
He is voiced by Tim Dang.
What Makes Him a Hate Sink?[]
- After finding out that there was a Waterbender in the Southern Water Tribe, Yon Rha attacked Katara and Sokka's village.
- After a young Katara entered the tent where he was interrogating her mother, Yon Rha angrily told her to leave, and when Kya lied about her being the last waterbender and told Yon Rha that he could bring her as a prisoner, he sadistically refused and killed Kya.
- His murder of Kya would cause a great impact on Sokka and especially Katara due to them losing their mother to the Fire Nation.
- When at Katara's mercy, Yon Rha tried to convince Katara to kill his mother to save himself, and appears to show no remorse for his crimes.
- Overall, he's nothing more than a sadistic coward who slowly got what he deserved by living a terrible life where he had a mother who would constantly yell and argue with him for doing nothing while pretty much living the rest of his days with misery.
