Principal Edward Kelly is the secondary antagonist of the animated series X-Men: Evolution. He is a high school principal that has a hatred towards mutants and is an enemy of the X-Men.
He is also planning to become President of the Untied States to spread his own racist agenda against mutants.
He is voiced by Dale Wilson.
What Makes Him A Hate Sink?[]
- Unlike the other versions of Kelly who was grateful to the X-Men for saving his life, this version of him is ungrateful and rude to them and hates mutants, believing that they are a threat to humanity.
- When Jean Grey saved him from Quicksilver, he is shown to be ungrateful, as he aggressively pushed her away from him before eventually running away.
- He tries to call the cops on the X-Men for no reason other than spite.
- He stared to gain a hatred towards the X-Men for a very petty reason and didn’t even thank them for saving him from the Brotherhood.
- He has a huge hatred towards mutants for no clear reason at all.
- Though he was willing to encourage the students of Bayville High to do good and make the world a better place, he later abandoned it when mutantkind's existence was revealed and tried to drive them out of Bayville.
- He expels the mutants from school for no reason other than prejudice and spite.
- When Jean broke up with Duncan Matthews, he sees Duncan as a victim, but he deserved it.
- Although he did welcome the Brotherhood back, he only brought them back only to encourage them to bully the X-Men for his own sadism, which is rather hypocritical of him.
- He made Duncan team up with the Brotherhood, who is shown to be hateful towards Scott Summers while smirking about it.
- He rudely take Jean’s trophies and awards away before falsely telling her that she and the mutants are not welcome in the school, and calls them a menace while also calling Jean a cheat.
- When Jean gets angry that he took her earned trophies and awards, he taunts her by saying that being angrier will cause her to get in trouble, while being all smug about it.
- He was also indirectly responsible for Lance Alvers ending his relationship with Kitty Pryde.
- When the Brotherhood attacked, he tries to tell the board members of Bayville High that all mutants are bad to justify his bigoted beliefs.
- When Kitty saves him from getting hit by a car, he was again shown to be ungrateful and rude to her.
- He expels the Brotherhood of the Mutants for their failure.
- When Lance accuses him for using them to get back at the Xavier kids, Kelly threatens him that if he doesn’t leave, he would call the authorities on him, which causes Lance to use his powers on him by sending his office desk to hit him, in which Kelly deserved it.
- When Scott and Jean were happy that they are gonna graduate, he says that it’s good thing that they’re leaving while bragging about how he firmly tells them that he demands graduations shouldn’t be disturbed by mutants. However, the X-Men would never allow Kelly to do that.
- When Magneto and his mutants attacked, he started to make more of his agenda against mutants.
- When he became the Mayor of Bayville, he made a video of himself showing his prejudiced and bigoted agenda against mutants in which he likes.
- When he saw the Brotherhood as heroes on the news, he was not pleased.
- When the Brotherhood told him to call off his agenda, he refuses to change his mind, ultimately refusing redemption to change his ways.
- On the radio, he tells an interviewer that he firmly believes that mutants are the greatest threat to a peaceful future, but was not true and when the interviewer tells him about the Brotherhood where they proved that not all mutants are bad, he refuses to believe it and he responds that mutants might be the ones to cause the accidents, which he claims that it’s the reason he believes the government need to make a Mutant Registration Act.
- When he said that the interviewer mentions that his opponent Mayor Richardson disagrees by saying that his policy is a merely a form of segregation, which is true but he tells him that they should singled out and tells everyone to not let them fool themselves.
- though he was Happy to See the X-Men Saving him from the Brotherhood he only did it as a idea to frame them For attacking him
- When the X-Men saved him again from the Brotherhood, he remains to be ungrateful and instead furiously yells at them, vowing that he will drive all of the mutants out of Bayville as his own promise, before leaving and rudely glaring at Scott.
- He's never been given any sort of punishment for his actions, making him a karma Houdini.
- He lacks no redeeming qualities, nor "evil is cool" moments. He’s taken completely seriously.
Trivia[]
- Principal Kelly is only Hate Sink-exclusive to the X-Men: Evolution series itself as the comic or other media, while initially a mutant hater, he was portrayed more sympathetically, especially after his life was being saved by mutants, in which he would vow to help them or see the error of his ways.
