What Makes Him a Hate Sink?[]
- He is a greedy, arrogant, and manipulative aristocrat who is bent on getting married to women in order to kill them, so he would be able to gain their fortune and wealth.
- He killed Emily by stabbing her through the stomach even though he claimed to love her.
- Even years after murdering Emily, Barkis is bent on repeating it again with another victim.
- He scammed Maudeline and Finis by manipultaing them into thinking that he's a rich man. This soon led to Maudeline and Finis arranging Victoria to marry Barkis.
- When Barkis tried to tell Victoria to grab her money so they can both leave (and for Barkis to secretly kill her as well), he was furious to learn that she was actually broke and her parents need his wealth so they don’t go to the poorhouse. Even roughly shakes Victoria about this.
- He crashed Victoria and Victor's wedding with no manners whatsoever.
- When Emily remembered him, Barkis mocked and sadistically tormented her. Also, he tried to psychologically break her.
- He stole a blade and held Victoria hostage with it to her throat.
- While holding Victoria hostage, Barkis told Victor that she's still his wife.
- He tried to kill Victor and caused a massive corruption at the wedding.
- After Emily block Barkis’ attack, which was meant for Victor, Barkis taunted Emily for never being the bride.
- After drinking from the wine cup not knowing that it contains poison, which was meant for Victor in order to marry Emily, all the undead, who couldn’t attack earlier since he was living being, gang up on him and prepare to torture him for the crimes he committed, which is satisfying.
