The Red Wolf Squadron (レッド・ウルフ隊 Reddo Urufu tai?, aka "The Red Wolves") was an elite mobile suit unit of the Principality of Zeon featured in the ONA Mobile Suit Gundam: Requiem for Vengeance.

Background Information[]

The Red Wolf Squadron gained their reputation during the Battle of Loum at the onset of the One Year War, where they destroyed three fleets of E.F.S.F. warships[1]. They were then assigned to Earth in Romania in the Eastern European theater and attached to the 1st Mobile Suit Company, 7th Battalion[2], where they supported various Zeon offensives against the Federal Forces. All four members of the Red Wolves piloted the customized MS-06F Zaku II F Types.

History[]

On November 6, U.C. 0079, the Red Wolves were deployed via airdrop to rescue the Stein Battalion that was ambushed by a Federation armored force defending the Cluj-Napoca military base, and subsequently assisted the force in capturing the base. In the early morning of November 7, U.C. 0079, the Red Wolves sortied to defend the base from the EFF's surprise raid at the base, where they encountered the RX-78(G)E Gundam EX for the first time. The Red Wolves proved no match for the Gundam's superior technology, leading to the deaths of Red Wolf pilots Reid Ghelfi (Chubs) and Kale Zavaleta, and destroying Iria Solari and Kneeland LeSean's mobile suits.

The dispossessed Red Wolf pilots escaped along with other Zeon survivors to a Zeon's Recycling Centre operated by the Brigade Support Command to recuperate, and there they requested the resident mechanic corps to utilize salvaged mobile suit parts to assemble two functional Zaku II's. Both Solari and LeSean would pilot the refurbished Zaku II's to defend the base from a EFF assault led by the Gundam EX and a RGM-79 GM, and while the Red Wolves sustained damage they would succeed in repelling the attack[3].

Shortly afterwards the Red Wolves would be tasked by Maj. Gen. Yuri Kellerne to infiltrate a EFF military base near the Olt, with the intention of stealing the GMs for technical examination[4]. Unfortunately, the operation is foiled by the unexpected presence of the Gundam EX at the base, and LeSean would be killed trying to cover the infiltrator's retreat.

As the sole surviving member of the Red Wolves, Solari would participate in the defense of the Odessa Spaceport, covering the retreat of Maj. Rolph Ronet's convoy and other Zeon Forces escaping into space via HLVs[5]. With most of its members deceased and the dissolution of Principality of Zeon after Operation Star One, the Red Wolf Squadron was officially disbanded and Solari joined the Zeon Remnants in Africa to continue her battle against the Earth Federation[6].
