Elwind is a second-level Wind magic tome in the Fire Emblem series, making its first appearance in Genealogy of the Holy War.

In Genealogy of the Holy War, this tome appears as one of few items that Lewyn starts out with. Due to the fact that this tome has a relatively low weapon level, it is thus usable by a good number of promoted magic-based classes. Much like other wind tomes available in the game, Elwind is rather lightweight, essentially splicing the possibility of its user suffering from Attack Speed deficiencies. Despite all the positive traits that this tome possesses, it is not easily passed on to the second generation, as it may only be used by Lewyn's children and Ced.

Robin Elwind SSB4 Wii U

Male Robin using Elwind in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U

Elwind is the up special move for Robin in both Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, which is their recovery move.

Robin fires a blade of wind below them, propelling themselves upward and can be fired twice in succession. It can also hit enemies below, dealing 5% damage. The first hit has a meteor smash property, allowing Robin to spike characters trying to recover to ledge directly underneath them. However, because it is a projectile, if unorthodox in execution, it can be reflected.

Elwind can be used up to nine times before its durability is used up and Robin is forced to discard the tome. They will have to wait six seconds before they equip a new Elwind tome. Robin's jab attack also has a rapid jab version that uses Elwind at the end, where Robin will generate a small, condensed barrage of wind blades. Using the rapid version of Robin's jab combo will consume a durability point of Elwind.

In Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U only, Elwind has two custom variants. The first custom variant for this move is Soaring Elwind, which reduces the height of the first gust but increases the height of the second, overall increasing Robin's jump height for this move. The second variant is Gliding Elwind, which propels Robin upward diagonally in the direction he is facing for the first attack, then straight up for the second; the attack power is decreased, however.
