Searchbar[]

On Wikipedia, I've noticed if you type a few letters into their searchbar, a prompt list of terms appears, displaying what pages you may be looking for. Has this Wiki ever had that, and is there a way to get this? Drake Clawfang 16:11, 1 June 2009 (UTC)

I don't know if the monaco skin has that feature. I think the monobook did. That's another thing we'd have to find out and bring to the attention of the people at Wikia. Faethinverba volant 16:13, 1 June 2009 (UTC)
Monaco does, as I am using it and the search bar works for me. ScatheMote 16:26, 1 June 2009 (UTC)
I'm using Monobook, doesn't show up for me. Thanks though, I didn't know it was a feature reliant on skin. Drake Clawfang 16:27, 1 June 2009 (UTC)
Go to "My Preferences", click the "Search Suggest" tab, tick the box, save and hard refresh. It should work then. — YuanSaluto!Acta 22:11, 1 June 2009 (UTC)

I already have that enabled. Drake Clawfang 22:17, 1 June 2009 (UTC)

Faethin, we really should fix that Template so that it doesn't confuse Users into thinking there is such a thing as a Welcoming Committee. I was confused about that myself for like six months when I first joined. I'll edit it now. --BlueHighwind 12:09, 5 June 2009 (UTC)

Not showing up for anybody. Click on the link and you'll be directed to the rules page. From there, look for the "How to join" section: there is the link to join the channel via Wikia's client. I'd suggest using another client though, as Wikia's default is a little too slow. Faethinverba volant 05:27, 11 June 2009 (UTC)

I have a query. I'd like to do something with FF12, but not a full-fledged walkthrough, I'm still new to the game. Rather, a multi-page guide to the License Board, explaining how it works, how to use it, and so forth. Can I do this, a few page FAQ rather than a full Walkthrough? Drake Clawfang 05:39, 21 June 2009 (UTC)

Why, of course. I don't know why would that require any sort of authorisation or discussion. Faethinte audio 07:40, 21 June 2009 (UTC)

the USERNAME template work? I kind of saw it in Armageddon's page, and also what are the other templates aside the commonly known ones? DB36 08:39, 7 July 2009 (UTC)

The template:USERNAME basically puts whoever is watching the page's name on the page i. e. if I'm watching the page, template:USERNAME displays "Faethin", if Diablo is watching the page the template displays "Diablocon".
There's a truckload of common templates. If you're curious about them, go to Special Pages => All pages => Template. You should see a full list of them. Faethinte audio 15:10, 7 July 2009 (UTC)

Unbuntu[]

Judging from some of the info you have had on here. I am going to assume you know something about Unbuntu Linux. I recently installed it on my HP laptop (i partitioned the hard-drive to run both windows and linux). And for the life of me, I cannot get the wifi to work. I hooked it up to the internet by patching into my modem long enough to download the latest upgrade of the Network Manager, but still, I have nothing. I am running Unbuntu Version 9.02. Hope you can help. Exdeath64 00:21, 9 July 2009 (UTC)

Partitioning was a very good idea. Question: is the WiFi working on Windows? Sometimes, shutting down your wireless network in Windows affects the WiFi when running Ubuntu (don't ask me why ¬_¬). Another thing I can think of is the bios. When starting your computer, when the HP logo appears, press f2 or f12 (or whatever key gives you access to your laptop's bios) and look for the option to enable or disable your wireless LAN adaptor. I hope this works. If by any chance it doesn't, you can try asking the people at Ubuntu's IRC channel. Freenode sends you to the correct channel if you join #Ubuntu. I hope this helps. Walkthrough[]

I just noticed that in a fit of vandalism, Part 5 of my walkthrough had been created and deleted a couple weeks ago. May I ask what was on the page that was vandalism? Just curious. Drake Clawfang 03:53, 17 July 2009 (UTC)

Do you honestly expect me to remember that Drake? -_- Faethinte audio 05:07, 17 July 2009 (UTC)
If you don't it's fine, I was just curious when I saw the message as I made the page. It's no bit deal, I'm more concerned with Part 6 which is gonna be a lot of typing to do, though it'll still be easier than those three-dozen diagrams....
Also, just a random note - Rydia is dethroned, Terra's my fav femme. Watching her beat the crap out of Ultimekia sealed the deal ;). Drake Clawfang 05:12, 17 July 2009 (UTC)
'Bout time, man. 'Bout time. Faethinte audio 05:18, 17 July 2009 (UTC)

On another, more serious note, I want to ask an Admin's opinion on this. The VA sections for the Dissidia pages, until recently were filled, I've blanked them. My reasoning for this is thus - too much speculation and false information and sources, especially considering all these VAs have yet to be identified by any manner except ear. So, I blanked them, but I know there's going to be debate over this in the future. Your thoughts? Drake Clawfang 05:23, 17 July 2009 (UTC)

So uh, any advice for this? Drake Clawfang 19:23, 17 July 2009 (UTC)

Until there's written or audiovisual proof of the VA's, adding names is purely speculative. Take them down. Faethinte audio 20:59, 17 July 2009 (UTC)
Already done, just wanted to make sure it was alright. Thank you. Drake Clawfang 21:03, 17 July 2009 (UTC)

You have poked the sleeping bear, prepare anti-bear Armour[]

You listen here pal. Like six other users have bothered me about this, and my patience is wearing thin. And despite my best efforts to explain, its been pretty much ignored. So here goes *pulls megaphone from hammerspace*, I HAVE A BLOODY MEDICAL/MENTAL CONDITION THAT CAUSES ME TO CONFUSE THESE THINGS! Look, this has been an issue for a while, and I AM working on it, but I am doing the best I bloody well can, and if you don't like the speed at which I am making progress, you can slag off. YOUR problem however is when things don't go the way you want, you assume people are deliberately doing it to piss you off (yeah, I remember the research project thing, the reason I did not change it immediately was because I honestly thought that the "new message" alert would pop up when someone edited the talk page and only noticed when I realized that people seemed pissed at me, and no messages had popped up, so I checked, a lo and behold like six people had posted). So get over yourself, learn to realize that I don't really care enough to do things just to piss you off (If I where doing that, you would know immediately) and if you feel compelled to ban me for ranting, go nuts (and by the by, I don't think this violates wiki policy, I did not curse once or say anything overly offensive). I'll take it with quiet dignity and return upon the end of it. Good night, and have a pleasant tomorrow. Exdeath64 06:28, 19 July 2009 (UTC)

I don't believe you. But don't worry. Being full of it is no bannable offense. Faethinte audio 06:33, 19 July 2009 (UTC)
You honestly don't believe that I have some sort of medical condition? Have you SEEN some of the stuff I have done around here? Regardless of weather or not you believe me, this is the case. And I will continue to work on it, but I am afraid you will need to learn to deal with the occasional mishap. Exdeath64 06:40, 19 July 2009 (UTC)
Judging by your overall good spelling and ease for writing, yeah, I find it quite improbable that you have a medical condition that specifically makes you write "has" instead of "as". You even went up to say "it's an old habit", never implying any sort of medical condition.
The very fact that you reference yourself, and clearly imply that you're aware of of the stuff you have done around here, makes me doubt it even more. Faethinte audio 06:46, 19 July 2009 (UTC)
Disorders of that type are commonly treated in grammar school, since pretty much every one of them has special programs to help struggling students read and write. If you really did have whatever you're pretending to have (dyspraxia?) you probably would not be able to use a computer as fluently as you do. And if you do have problems, having them is no excuse to not try harder to say what you mean. Its not like there's a time limit to post stuff, just proofread your statement once or twice, or three times. --BlueHighwind 13:07, 19 July 2009 (UTC)

Agreed, there's no doubt one could have a medical condition that would make them misspell words and whatnot, but almost all of your edits, Exdeath, has been perfectly legible. Drake Clawfang 06:49, 19 July 2009 (UTC)

You ever been to high school? if someone is a little different, they make damn sure you know about it. And Clawfang, that was a typo, I meant mental. Exdeath64 06:53, 19 July 2009 (UTC)

And this is relevant to this discussion (or whatever) how...? Faethinte audio 06:56, 19 July 2009 (UTC)
  • Sigh* that's how I am aware that some of the stuff I have done on here has been seen has a tad strange. If you really don't comprehend this, its fine, most people don't and I am seen has a malcontent half the time, and an annoyance the rest of the time. Exdeath64 07:02, 19 July 2009 (UTC)

@Blue: Problems with right and left are treated the same way, and yet you still have a small problem.
@Everyone: There are nicer ways to have started out about this. Maybe if you all hadn't begun in jerk mode, you wouldn't have gotten to rant mode. Examples? See my comment on Exdeath64's talk page. Think of how Master Conjurer worded complaints to him and to Blue. This isn't necessary.

IRC Error[]

I tried to log-in last night using the irc.wikia.com link, and something odd happened. You know how normally you log in and all sorts of lines and info and such and such appear? Well I tried to log in, and a single line appeared. I don't remember exactly what it said, but it was something like "cannot execute command, no space on the device", and that was it, nothing else appeared. In the end I simply couldn't log in via the wikia channel, I had to use Freenode. Dunno what this meant, but just FYI, so you know. Drake Clawfang 18:09, 31 July 2009 (UTC)

I just tried it and it works just fine. I can't say I know what happened. You should get a real IRC client. Try ChatZilla. Faethinte audio 18:19, 31 July 2009 (UTC)

Typos[]

If it was underlined in red, I fixed it, and I'm not exactly familiar with the English method of spelling things, and if nobody cares which version of the word is used, why does it matter? And I'm actually trying to be productive, so how about you leave me to my work instead of taking shots at me for no good reason. Exdeath64 23:49, 2 August 2009 (UTC)

That you don't know the difference between the English spelling convention and the American spelling convention is hardly anyone's fault but yours. I was only telling you to take it easy on British and American differences because nobody here cares much about said differences. You're free and encouraged to fix any other spelling issues.
Of course, I emphasise that, has somebody that tends to commit typos consistently, you should not complain too much about others' mistakes. Faethinte audio 23:53, 2 August 2009 (UTC)
It is actually very uncommon for an American to know all of the differences between UK and US English. I still find out new ones weekly. Besides, aren't ILHI and BlueLionheart both also getting rid of UK spellings and comma structures, respectively? As ILHI said, the PAL versions of Final Fantasy games use US spellings, so we should commit to that if we are to commit. Eric Ryan Jones 21:37, 3 August 2009 (UTC)
From FF8 onwards PAL versions used UK spellings, so that's that excuse blown out of the water. Jeppo (Talk) 21:43, 3 August 2009 (UTC)
I don't live in Europe, so I really would have little way of knowing. I had to go opicherdff of what ILHI said. Apparently, he lied. Eric Ryan Jones 21:48, 3 August 2009 (UTC)
He was probably misinformed. If you had told me, however, that a certain version spelling should be universal throughout the wiki, then I can't argue with you, because I believe the wiki should stick to one language and stick by it. I have to concede that that would have to be the American spelling (drat) but life is full of compromises. Jeppo (Talk) 21:54, 3 August 2009 (UTC)
