Fanfiction[]
Hello Scathe, I'm writing a fanfiction, User:TidusTehSacrificer357/Fanfics/Final Fantasy VI: Land of Shadow, and I was wondering if there was any categories or anything I needed to add to it, or maybe a different place in user space. If you could tell me, it would be much appreciated. Thanks, Tidus357 01:27, May 1, 2012 (UTC)
Thank you! :) Tidus357 02:01, May 1, 2012 (UTC)
Sorry to bother you, but vandal'd the Dancer page. 207.195.124.130
Just thought you could "take care of it". Thanks. Tidus357 10:45, May 3, 2012 (UTC)
EDIT: I mean the Dancer Final Fantasy Tactics page. Sorry :P Tidus357 10:46, May 3, 2012 (UTC)

Timer/Countdown (for ma birthday :D!)[]
Hello again ScatheMote! I was just wondering, do you know where I can grab a countdown template? E.g, "3 days, 4 hours, 44 minutes, and 36 seconds until my birthday..."? I would usually annoy Cat, but he needs a break from me :S
If you could at least point me in the right direction, it would be much appreciated. Thanks! :D Tidus357 08:00, May 11, 2012 (UTC)
- I'm sorry that I can't help you myself, but I'm fairly certain that JBed would be able to help you, him being one of the best coders on the site. SN might also be able to help as well, as I vaguely remember him doing something with countdowns quite some time ago. ScatheMote 11:27, May 11, 2012 (UTC)
Ah, thanks Scathe ^^ I'll probably ask 'em tommorrow, I'm having an early night. See you around! :P Tidus357
Yes, It Was Intentional[]
The FI iconsbeing on the right set it overlapping infoboxes and templates (including character and game infoboxes). Upon attempting to realign by just moving it further up, I discovered the icon does not overlay the margin bar at the top, and so had a line going through it, and thus decided to move it to the left. Now aligned right it avoids the margin bar, but is more or less lost in the middle of all the crap Wikia has thrown on the left side, while being on the left made it more prominent and noticeable. The Staff and FI templates were realigned similarly, and the Staff template as it is now overlays the edit button on staff member userpages. Comparison - top to bottom, current, my version, original.
If you think I should take it up with other Admins I'm cool with that, but it's kinda hard to notice being on the right side in Oasis. Doreiku Kuroofangu 00:27, May 14, 2012 (UTC)
- Sorry about changing it; I thought it might have been a typo or something when copying the code.
- I agree that the image gets lost in all the stuff in the right, but it looks kinda awkward on the left (maybe it's just odd for me since I'm used to seeing it on the right). Maybe we can build in a {{clear}} template in the Oasis version so that it doesn't overlap with the infoboxes? If that doesn't work, then having it on the left would be the best option. ScatheMote 00:53, May 14, 2012 (UTC)
- It may work, try it. Doreiku Kuroofangu 00:56, May 14, 2012 (UTC)
- Do you think this is any better? ScatheMote 01:09, May 14, 2012 (UTC)

Could you also add Final Fantasy Dimensions to the Future Releases section of the top Nav Bar please? Jeppo (Talk | contribs) 20:39, June 4, 2012 (UTC)
- Done. There's not a lot being released soon, is there? :/ ScatheMote 21:07, June 4, 2012 (UTC)
- No. That's good though. It means SE can concentrate on making Versus instead of making crappy spin-offs that no-one in their right mind would buy. Not mentioning any games of course... Jeppo (Talk | contribs) 21:25, June 4, 2012 (UTC)
Come to think of it, is Final Fantasy Airborne Brigade going to be released over here? It's released in Japan, but I can't see a release date for the rest of the world on the article. If it isn't being released over here, maybe we should move it over to Latest Games? Jeppo (Talk | contribs) 21:43, June 4, 2012 (UTC)
- Might be a good idea, since it's one of those cell phone games. And unlike Dimensions, it's some odd Japan only compatible social thing, so it's unlikely to be released here. ScatheMote 21:49, June 4, 2012 (UTC)

Gave a new icon a try, what do you think? Color change is easily accomodated if desired. Doreiku Kuroofangu 23:52, June 4, 2012 (UTC)
- I like it much better than the previous one. It's much better looking in general. But maybe the orange text is a little too light? I'm not sure if it's just me, but it looks a little bit bright when it's on the white background. Maybe I'm just not used to it yet. ScatheMote 00:17, June 5, 2012 (UTC)
- I can move the text up a bit so it's more over the cup. Doreiku Kuroofangu 00:22, June 5, 2012 (UTC)

Fanart[]
Hello there ScatheMote. Tidus again ^^' I was bored the other day, and I decided to draw some fanart of the Black Mage from the original FF. I've checked Project:File use#Images, but it's not quite clear. I'm not quite sure what qualifies as fanart created by me, and fanart of something created by someone else. :S Would I be able to upload it? - Tidus357 02:09, June 27, 2012 (UTC)
- If you drew it/got permission from someone else and you put the fanart license from the dropdown menu that you want, fanart is always welcome. ScatheMote 02:11, June 27, 2012 (UTC)
Vandalised Main Page[]
You may have already seen this, but the Main Page's content has been entirely erased and replaced with 'You Declared the War on me' by 'Yotsnik the Hedgehog' at 03:22, July 6, 2012 (UTC). Could you please help?
- The page has already been fixed. You may need to clear the cache to see the reversion, though, I dunno :\ Jimcloud 12:16, July 6, 2012 (UTC)
YouTube money?[]
I was just wondering... is it possible to have the FFWiki channel monetised? The videos uploaded to the channel are all fair use anyway... since they're used for educational and demonstrative purposes. I thought you weren't supposed to make money from fair use things, but YouTube says differently.
I have no idea how much money the channel would get. But we could do something with the money, right? JBed 22:49, July 7, 2012 (UTC)
- It wouldn't just be YouTube, but I think perhaps Wikia we'd have to talk to about this. My instincts say it wouldn't be allowed, but you never know. As for what we could do with the money, I actually could think of some things - we could try and import Japanese exclusive content like say, the novelizations or Ultimania guides, and in turn both expand our content and make them available to English fans by turning them over to translators (Lifestream.net deals heavily in this stuff for example). Doreiku Kuroofangu 23:19, July 7, 2012 (UTC)
- The channel is owned by the wiki and Wikia are not at all involved with the channel, right? Wikia are not going to suddenly care if we monetise Catuse's channel, so I don't see why they should care if we monetise a YouTube account associated-by-name with a wiki hosted on their site.
- I was thinking more branching out with community things and having tangible prizes for competitions and suchlike, but imports is a far better idea. JBed 00:15, July 8, 2012 (UTC)
If you have enough traffic YouTube will send you a message and ask if you'd like to do a business deal to monetise the channel. I always imagined this was a one-way deal, that they will come and ask you. But if it's possible to do it the other way around, then that's something to think about. That would mean viewers have to view an ad before they can watch the video though...doesn't it... Also...if the money went to Scathe it would affect his taxes and whatever, not sure what steps one would take to have it come to the wiki... We'd have to register it as an organisation/something like that in the United States?Keltainentoukokuu 00:30, July 8, 2012 (UTC)
- There is the option to have the pre-rolls (before the video) or not. Otherwise adverts at the side?? (I don't see adverts because I'm a rebel). But if you have pre-rolls you get like five-times as much if you didn't (reportedly-ish)
- But I have no idea how anything works beyond knowing they pay you money via adsense. JBed 00:34, July 8, 2012 (UTC)
- Advertising is before the video, at the bottom of the video, and in the sidebar w/ all the Related Videos etc. A lot like Wikia ads now that I think about it.C A T U S E 01:49, July 8, 2012 (UTC)
- Yeah...too bad you can't just earn free money in this world, at some point someone will want you to pay taxes on it. But it's possible to make real money on YouTube, some people make video game Let's Plays and earn hundreds of thousands (before tax...).Keltainentoukokuu 00:41, July 8, 2012 (UTC)
We have two of the three basic needs met: our concept and a fanbase, once we get our views up a bit, we totally can apply; it's easier than it looks. The difficult part would be figuring out who would be our new Treasurer. - +DeadlySlashSword+ 01:06, July 8, 2012 (UTC)
FFWiki YouTube has 2.7m views. In "Settings" > "Monetization" > "Enable My Account".
I mean, I haven't done it on my account but I assume I could since the options are all there, and I only have 7600 views across 15 videos. But my videos are so not-fairuse and so-copyright-infringing that I wouldn't monetise my account. 79.69.207.235 11:59, July 8, 2012 (UTC)
- Money is power. Forum:Helping_me_advertise_my_Final_Fantasy_Charity_Marathon!, and also buying better ripping equipment (?) to get stuff from games.
- Or we could just take the money for ourselves and run MUAHAHAHA Yeah, I can see the flaws in that idea too.C A T U S E 16:12, July 8, 2012 (UTC)
Well, I think monetizing videos may not be worth it at the moment. The majority of the channel's videos are 30 second long summon animations, and no one wants to sit through a 20 second add to see something that's the same length. Maybe if the Let's Play gets very popular we can do it, but right now it probably wouldn't be a positive thing. ScatheMote 16:19, July 9, 2012 (UTC)
- You don't have to have pre-roll adverts. You can disable that and just have the adverts placed around the video. JBed (talk) 16:23, July 9, 2012 (UTC)
I think we have absolutely no need this. We don't do this for the money, and we don't need the money to support the website. - Henryacores^ 16:33, July 9, 2012 (UTC)
- Money is useful.
- Effortless money is better than no money.
- "We don't do this for the money"-- well the money isn't for any of us. It's for the wiki.
- The fact we don't do this for money is precisely why it's a good idea. You know, people have to buy guides to get information for the wiki? I have some Ultimanias and have used them to check things for the wiki and also uploaded images from them, but do I really want to be buying guide books that I can't even read?
- In short, making money for something we already do for free anyway, which can be used for things to help improve the wiki without having to come out of our own pocket. JBed (talk) 16:47, July 9, 2012 (UTC)
- First of all, the "take and run" comment was meant as a joke, hence the MUAHAHAHA and subscripting. Second, we do have uses for the money, though we do need to wait until everything's live and kicking.
- Here's an example of a potential use: FreeTranslation.com. This isn't actually free — the Google Translate service is, but the human translation isn't. What do we need human translation for? Oh yeah, we've got a bunch of Ultimania and novelization pages that are incomplete, and only a few members here who can speak Japanese enough to read the Ultimania and the novelizations. Of course, that's assuming they have them, and importing them doesn't come cheap. So we buy them, and send them to FreeTranslation.com or another website for translation, then add the facts into the articles. Cat (meow ∙ hunt) 19:46, July 9, 2012 (UTC)
- FFXIII-2 has like two books out in Japan that I don't know if we have really any info on them at all. I haven't seen anything in English. But to order a translation on something like that would probably cost a lot of money.Keltainentoukokuu (talk) 20:02, July 9, 2012 (UTC)
Video Game Olympics[]
Hello, my name is Nic and I'm a member of the Wikia Development Team. We are going to be running a Video Game Olympics promotion, where we determine which game characters would be most suited to win certain Olympic events. A character from your wiki has been selected as one of the participants of this promotion. In order to promote this, we would like to add a participant badge to your main page in the top right column. Would you be willing to participate in this promotion? It's totally up to you whether or not you add the badge. Please respond accordingly. Thanks. - Wagnike2 (talk) 18:17, July 18, 2012 (UTC)

About the Dragon's Neck Coliseum votes:[]
92.237.204.12 20:59, August 8, 2012 (UTC) Hi am I right in saying your one of the moderators for the Dragon's Neck Coliseum fight between Kuja and Cloud? Just contacting you to sort out an issue with me and my brothers votes, we both voted for Cloud (he is anonymous vote 8 and I anonymous vote 6) however when I read over our votes we share the same user number. We voted on seperate computers but use the same internet connection. Will we have to withdraw one vote or will you count both? Not sure where to look for a reply from you on this (I'm fairly new to wiki use) I'll keep an eye on the peanut gallery, this page or if you need to contact my wiki page I have one on Dragon Age under Zenethron Mahariel.
P.S Thanks for your time.

A little confused about images[]
Hi ScatheMote this is Cloud J Strife here. Sorry to bother you again but after reading through dozens of image copyright policies and finding one on external images which doesn't exist I've come here for a definitive answer from an administrator.
In a nutshell: I find an image on deviantart of an alternative costume in Dissidia 012 (which isn't on the wiki). I get permission from the artist to use his image (providing he is given credit) however I find I cannot post the image unless it is put in fanart which as far as I can understand everyone can access and use. I have seen the copyright permission form and have filled and posted it on my profile. I do not wish to do a disservice to the artist nor break wiki rules can you please help? Cloud J Strife (talk) 16:08, August 9, 2012 (UTC)
Ok got your message thanks for clearing that up! I take it the image needs to be posted in the fanart section before I can use it on my profile page? The reason I ask is because I am told by the wiki I don't have permission to upload the image in my infobox.
P.S Just tried uploading the image in photos same result (Permissions Error). Cloud J Strife (talk) 00:47, August 10, 2012 (UTC)
YouTube channel[]
Hello ScatheMote.
I have created a video which shows an event which I don't think can be explained thoroughly through a still image. This is the easter egg added to the new version of FFVII.
I could use the linked video directly on the page, however I think all videos used on the wiki should be uploaded to the FFWiki channel.
And this is where the next stage comes in. You can either send me the password to the account (to jonnybedford@hotmail.com) or alternatively you can download the video and re-upload it yourself. 79.69.201.43 00:15, August 17, 2012 (UTC)
So you agree?[]
I wasn't sure on the images for FFI's PSX images since we had the GBA sprites (well...not ALL of the sprites...I think???). FFII's is just as tricky though...what do you think should be done bout that category??
ScatheMote - 02:37, September 3, 2012 (UTC)
I thought about keeping them for a second…but then I realized that the PS/GBA are merged in one area here, so there's no need for the other images for the sake of consistency.
Yeah, that's why I put them up for deletion mostly because no need for both the sprites and screenshots, but didn't know just HOW similar they were to one another so that's why it was harder to think on lol. FFII's issue is that most of the stuff there is in the PSX category, but getting rid of the GBA category would be silly as well...there's GBA exclusive stuff in there (which we still need sprites for it seems), and no need for BOTH categories. Could move all of the sprites from the PSX category to the GBA one I guess but that's a loooot of moving...
Need Opinion...[]
So I'm not sure how to handle some of these things. We have things like Swift Bolt on the Heavenly Wrath page, Fire Fang on BOTH the Red Fang (Item) and Bomb Fragment pages, and Bolt Plume on the Zeus's Wrath page. Should these be on there at all (granted, they tend to do what the items do. I.e. Bolt Plume casts Thundara which is what Zeus's Wrath tends to do), but they're not the SAME item I don't think (i.e. they're not the same name), so I don't know if they should be on there. And with that note, I'm not sure if Fire Fang should be on both pages, one page, or neither...what do you think on this matter?
ScatheMote - 02:17, September 11, 2012 (UTC)
Well, things that aren't called the same thing probably shouldn't be on the same page, but if they do the same thing I'm slightly unsure as to what to do. I would say that they shouldn't be on the pages since they simply aren't the same item. Since we have both Red Fang and Bomb Fragment, which basically do the same thing, there's no reason to put these other items on the page. I would be okay with Fire Fang on the Red Fang page, since the name is very similar.
I guarantee though that JBed would disagree with that and have them on there since they do the same thing as those. But I agree that they shouldn't be there because they aren't named the same, even if they do the same thing as one another. I shall wait a couple days to see what other responses this gets before I do any removing on said pages and relinking and whatnot (though I may put up relinking things in the forums for people to fix up...).
Modern Major General[]
While I've been trying to work with the midi you sent me, it just doesn't seem to fit appropriately. What I've decided to do is use Sibelius to input the entire sheet music (as I found some online that I can copy from), then export the sound into a suitable format so it can be used with my recordings in Audacity. I'm just, er...waiting for Sibelius to download, and then I should be able to get back to work. You have no idea how hard it is to find a nice quiet place in my house without the dog following you around trying to get in on the recording! Tia-Lewise 15:54, September 14, 2012 (UTC)
- I have Sibelius! Writing all the music out now, but I will probably have to restart all the vocal recordings. Um, when did you need this by again? My time is very limited these days, and I can't help but feel I'm letting you down on something I've tried really hard with. Tia-Lewise

Well, as, much as I've been able to. I've lost my voice, so I've only been able to record half or so of the track, but really, I think that might be for the better, as I've explained in a note in the folder. Question about the Let's Play[]
Hello ScatheMote.
First of all I would like to say I am a FF fan myself, I love this wiki, and I love watching online playthroughs, walkthroughs, and let's plays of video games. However, your Let's Play is different because it is hosted by you and other admins and users here (Final Fantasy Fans).
I find what you and the group are doing is great and fun to watch. FFVI is probably my favorite out the series.
But I have a few questions about your Let's Play videos.
First, are you the one that is playing it? If so, how do you record the video?
Second, are the episodes live? Another words, are you and the other users speaking in a live chatroom or something and what you are seeing is exactly what the others are seeing at the exact same time and you are able to comment on it live and others can speak back? Like in a room?
Thank you ScatheMote. I am asking because me and the admins at my X-Files wiki might want to do the same thing except with episodes from the show. Can you give us any pointers for us to do something similar?
Thank you so much. P.S. I'm looking forward to Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII as I played and beat the other two.
--Peazeract (talk) 04:25, January 29, 2013 (UTC)
- I'm glad that you enjoy it. To answer your questions:
- I do indeed record the videos. I emulate FFVI (using SNES9X), and then use a screencapture software to capture the audio and video (if you're interested, there's a full link of such programs here).
- The videos are prerecorded and then uploaded to Youtube as an unlisted video. After that, I get together three other people on Skype, and we all play the video at the same time. Then, over the Youtube video, we talk over the game, I record the audio, and then I edit in the audio in a video editing software. You can record Skype calls with a Skype recorder or Audacity. Audacity has requires you to have each person record their audio separately, and then stitch it together in Audacity, but it is of much higher quality than Skype recorder. So, in a sense, we do see the same video at the same time, but the video is prerecorded.
- I hope that was helpful for what you're doing, and I wish you good luck in your endeavors. ScatheMote 12:35, January 29, 2013 (UTC)
- One tip I can add is to be wary about copyrights, YouTube uses a shoot first, ask questions later policy when it comes to copyright disputes and TV and film related companies can be very protective about their work. We get off easy as SE pretty much does not care as long as you don't upload the opening or ending of their latest release. -- Some Color Mage ~ (Talk) 13:09, January 29, 2013 (UTC)

Hey Scathe, I can't edit the sitenotice and you seem to be the de facto person in charge of it, so I was wondering if you could mention something about the fora going down. This is a Wikia-wide issue; other than switch to the crummy new fora, there's nothing we can do but wait it out.
We could edit the Forumheader so the topics are categorised based on the time of their most recent edit. Then use those categorise as temporary forum lists. Right? JBed (talk) 20:09, March 2, 2013 (UTC)
uhh you play piano right?[]
And if you do, can you come on IRC or soemthing because i have a project idea that i think would be awesome CAF21:55, March 23, 2013 (UTC)

I wanted to add photos from the FFV iOS version, but it seems I do not have the permissions to do so. If I could send them to someone (or to you) to put up on the selected pages, that would be great. Let me know.
- Upload permissions are under autoconfirmed. Basically, register an account, make about a dozen edits and wait a few days. Much easier than sending things to other users to upload. Well, maybe not easier, but it's useful anyway. -- Some Color Mage ~ (Talk) 11:40, April 10, 2013 (UTC)
- What SCM said would be the best the option. However, if you really don't want to make an account, you can upload them to a Photobucket account (or some equivalent image hosting website) and link them here, and I can upload them for you. ScatheMote 11:47, April 10, 2013 (UTC)
LP Stuffz[]
I posted the video and recordings for Episode 5 and 6 in the Dropbox. I can't find DeadlySlashSword's data for Episode 6 though, I don't know where that went. So if becomes necessary for you to edit those episodes together you can. Part 3.3 is uploaded on Youtube already, you just need to make it public at midnight. Also, my computer is getting worked on this weekend, so maybe I'll be back online faster than I thought.
Thanks buddy. --BlueHighwindツ 21:52, April 12, 2013 (UTC)
- No problem. I restored something that may be DSS's episode 6 data on Dropbox, so that problem may be averted. If it's not that, it shouldn't be a problem for me to ask for it. It's also good to hear that your computer is going to be fixed soon. Hopefully it's not too bad. ScatheMote 22:44, April 12, 2013 (UTC)
- Also, I'm not entirely sure if I have all the audio for parts 5 and 6. I think your audio tracks may have not uploaded onto Dropbox; it can be finicky like that. Hopefully they'll just come up soon. ScatheMote 22:47, April 12, 2013 (UTC)
Live Commentary[]
Hey Scathe, i have an important question to ask you, how did you manage to get the other users recording their live commentary on your let's play video of FFVI?, see me and a friend of mine have been recording some let's plays of Fallout 3 together with post commentary and well long story short he wont be able to record it with me because he will be living further away from where i am so we figured we would try to do what you did with your FFVI but we don't know how to, i know how to record a live commentary with just me talking while playing fallout 3 but how is it possible to get him to live commentate along side me from his own PC, would i have to use some type of group chat like Skype or something?. I hope that makes sense to you.The Nemesisx08:19, April 14, 2013 (UTC)
- Well, if you want to do live commentary with one person, you can use Skype to screen share your game with him and then also use it talk. Then, use Audacity (this records your individual voices; you need to both record your own voices [headphones required], then later edit the vocal tracks together) or a Skype recorder (this will record you both, but the quality is worse).
- The FFVI LP (and by extension all the others) was all done post commentary, though. I recorded gameplay, edited the video, uploaded as an unlisted video to Youtube, and then sent it to all the other commentators. Then we all watched the video at the same time while commenting over it. ScatheMote 15:10, April 14, 2013 (UTC)
Message to ScatheMote: I'm having a problem, can you help?[]
I am a new user and I need help. I have tried to upload an image of the FF XIV and FF Type-0 logos without their text, to be used on the page Logos of Final Fantasy, but when I try, I get this message; "You do not have permission to upload this file, for the following reason: The action you have requested is limited to users in one of the groups: Autoconfirmed Users, Administrators, Wikia Staff, Wikia Helpers, adminmentor."
Why am I getting this? I signed up today so I could upload images, but it's showing this image like I'm still not signed up. I really want to be able to contribute, but this seems to be severely limiting me, which is not what I expected from a wiki as a registered user. What's going on? --Crystal Tear (talk) 14:33, April 22, 2013 (UTC)
- Thank you. I think I can wait that long. It was not that urgent, and it's not that important. Thank you for your advice. It was a little unnerving. I am on Wikipedia, but this is my first time as a registered user of Wikia. I've done a few edits before this point already, mostly concerning Type-0, Lightning Returns and Versus (though there are certainly a few others)
Mock LP[]
Hello Scathe, sorry to bother you with this big wall of text, but I could do with your help.
As I mentioned on the IRC yesterday, I've bought a PVR with the intention of hosting an LP sometime in the future. So as a test, I've recorded an hour's worth of Final Fantasy X gameplay, then did a bit of editing on it to see if I have what it takes to host one. If I do do an LP in the future, I need to make sure that I have the capability to do it before I can completely commit. In short, I need to do a mock LP episode and I would be grateful if you could be one of the commentators for this mock episode.
Firstly, could you become one of the commentators, and if you can, when would be the best times for you to do it? (the total running time is just short of 1 hour, 6 mins). If you are unable to do so then I completely understand as I know you're recording the next LP yourself. I am in no rush.
Many thanks! Jeppo (Talk | contribs) 16:26, April 30, 2013 (UTC)
- Great! Thanks a lot Scathe. Sunday is probably a better time for me, especially since I don't have to get up early on Monday morning, with it being a bank holiday. Shall we aim to start about... 4pm EST (8pm UTC)?
All I need to do is upload the file onto YouTube... Are you on the IRC at the moment? Jeppo (Talk | contribs) 21:22, April 30, 2013 (UTC)
A warning to the Wiki[]
I really need to leave a warning about this. On Wikipedia, there was a user called G-Zay who became a right pain in the neck with his/her edits on articles touching Final Fantasy (specifically adding reams of detail to infoboxes, promoting anti-Toriyama and anti-Kisate feeling, magnifying articles mentioning or concerning Hiroyuki Ito, and putting excess info concerning showings and statements from Normua into the Versus XIII article).
It even went as far as the user creating rumors and info on game forums and seeing what effect they would have. His/her behavior eventually led to his/her account being blocked, but he/she was soon back using different IP addresses to continue his/her practices with articles. The pages under most threat eventually needed to be protected.
Keep an eye out for that kind of editing. It is far more disruptive than it is helpful, even on a dedicated wiki. I believe the administrators for this Wiki can take steps to keep a user or IP accounts away for a time, so I think this Wiki, no the entire Wiki community who cares about accurate and unbiased FF info, should be warned. --Crystal Tear (talk) 15:49, May 9, 2013 (UTC)

I'm worried about Template:navbox FFXV. The pure-white color makes the sections indistinct and the template itself difficult to see, and once I clicked on the link, it became almost invisible. How can the color be fixed so it becomes more...visible? --Crystal Tear (talk) 14:35, June 11, 2013 (UTC)
- I don't quite know what you mean; I'm not seeing the problem I look at the template. It might be something with your browser? Perhaps try refreshing your browser cache; some of the .css has been changed because of Versus's name change. If that still doesn't work, could you take a screenshot and show it to me? ScatheMote 14:42, June 11, 2013 (UTC)
- I've done what you suggested. Nothing's happened. It's appearing on my screen as a pure white. Unfortunately, I don't have the equipment to take a screenshot. Also, I corrected the link above. Maybe something to do with the Wiki. I've encountered image and display hiccups here before. --Crystal Tear (talk) 14:49, June 11, 2013 (UTC)
- I suspect that some aspect of the site is taking awhile to catch up. JBed has changed the color codes here, so I'm assuming it's just taking time for them to display for you. Here's what the template looks for me. I suppose there's not much to do but wait a bit; eventually, I hope, something or other will catch up, and you'll be able to see the template correctly. Oasis sitenotice needs updating?[]
The new Sitenotice with the notice about FFXV doesn't seem to show up in Oasis. It's still just the things about the Let's Play and social stuff. Was this intentional (since readers aren't going to go around on massive editing sprees), or just nobody got around to it? C A T U S E 19:10, June 11, 2013 (UTC)
- Because Yuan likely doesn't know about the Oasis thing.
- And I didn't do it because it's not something I think we need to tell everyone. Editors, maybe. JBed (talk) 19:16, June 11, 2013 (UTC)
- Well, there are editors who use only Oasis. I don't see why it would hurt to update the Oasis sitenotice. ScatheMote 19:23, June 11, 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks. And designers can edit the Oasis sitenotice? Huh, could've sworn there was sysop protection on it. C A T U S E 20:32, June 11, 2013 (UTC)
- There's no such thing as the Oasis sitenotice. We only have a pseudo-sitenotice handled in Wikia.js. If you want me to explain the process of updating it, then you can ask, but I probably posted it somewhere on Scathe's talk.
- Also, the other reason I forgot to add was that I imagined everything had been updated by the time I got on. JBed (talk) 20:40, June 11, 2013 (UTC)
E3 Images[]
Hi, ScatheMode!
I've added some new images to the Final Fantasy XIV A Realm Reborn page - I have plenty more from E3 for that and Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII. Both pages seem plenty full of images, though, so I wanted to see if there's a need for any more or if you feel things are working as is.
Best regards, Raylan13 (talk) 21:08, June 12, 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks for uploading the images! I think that we have enough screenshots for now, but if you find any new promotional artwork or CGI for either games, we'd be happy to have it. Thanks. ScatheMote 22:41, June 12, 2013 (UTC)
- Sorry it's been a while ;) I finally went through all the images that were given to us and found a handful (I think) you guys don't have, including some from before the conference. Not being familiar with the game, however, I'm not certain precisely where you might want them or, in some cases, what they even are. I posted them on my profile page instead so you could go through them at your leisure - the file names are those provided by Square Enix, so hopefully they'll help a bit. - Thanks a bunch for the images! I'll be sure to sort them out correctly. ScatheMote 21:51, June 19, 2013 (UTC)

Where can I find this scene??[]
Hello. I read in your "Final Fantsy XV" page in the characters heading this: "A man with shoulder-length blond hair, robed entirely in white, is seen in what appears to be Noctis's throne room, casting a spell on the column in the center. When Noctis enters, the man smiles and removes his hood before they attack each other: the man surrounds Noctis in magical crests while Noctis's assorted weapons manifest around the man."
When I read this I began searching for the trailer because I didn't see any that had this scene. I searched everywhere but I can't find it. Can you please give me a link to that trailer? To the video that shows this scene?? Please I've been searching everywhere, and I thought that I would ask an Admin of this wiki since I have no one else to ask. --DSM144 (talk) 12:40, June 14, 2013 (UTC)
From Cori11[]
Hello, I have a question. I've been wondering about this for some time now but isn't Snow 24 in FF XIII-2 and 524 in the third game? And is there any info on the other characters meaning Vanille, Fang, Sazh, or Dajh?
- Snow exited the timeline and became a time traveler a year before FFXIII-2 starts, when he was presumably 23.Keltainentoukokuu (talk) 13:34, June 18, 2013 (UTC)
- As for Vanille, Fang, Sazh, and Dajh, they haven't appeared in any trailers or any documentation regarding the game. However, I'm sure they'll show up, albeit probably in minor roles. ScatheMote 14:03, June 18, 2013 (UTC)
Okay, thank you. It was so confusing. So news yet on the others, okay. Umm...But do you think Serah will be in the game? Because I've heard her mentioned several times already. And I'm ready for a FF 15, 16. and ongoing!
- Well, Lumina looks a lot like Serah. So that's something, I guess. Serah is confirmed to be in the game by the developers, though. ScatheMote 22:32, June 20, 2013 (UTC)
Lumina problem[]

Magicite Madness III Promotion[]
Hey there, ScatheMote. My name is Miguel and I work on the gaming side of Wikia. I'd love to talk to you about Magicite Madness--specifically, how we can help promote it and otherwise provide support. I think what you folks are doing is really cool and I'd like to help however I can! Feel free to drop me a line if you want to chat about it: miguel@wikia-inc.com.

User:76.29.126.137[]
Something needs to be done about User:76.29.126.137. Twice in as many days, they have done multiple, disruptive edits the Final Fantasy XIII article in the form of removing all spaces and messing with the character articles to place Hope Estheim at the top of the character list. Something needs to be done. I was told that you, as an administrator, were the person to turn to for aid in these matters.
FFXIV Content Location[]
Hi ScatheMote!
I wanted to post a quick question for the administrators here about the content of Final Fantasy XIV, so if you could share this also with members of the team that weren't directly contacted, it would be much appreciated :)
Obviously all of you are much more knowledgeable about the game series than I am, so I'd like your opinion on where the content for the game should be placed and where best it would benefit the players:
- On the this wiki
- On a specific FFXIV wiki
If the second, would you be willing to assist in revamping the existing FFXIV wiki?
Thanks for your time and input!

Deletions[]
There seems to be a bunch of images you deleted that still are linked to stuff. For example, this. I can't view the deleted revisions, and I can't find any actual duplicates (maybe they didn't actually exist?) so you get to fix them. --Shockstorm (talk) 20:28, August 2, 2013 (UTC)
- Fixed the image you linked to. If any other images like that come up, drop me a line and I'll be glad to fix them. ScatheMote 22:17, August 2, 2013 (UTC)
MMIII this round display[]
Bear in mind I use Oasis. When this round started the first thing I noticed was that the vs. symbol was given just as much significance as the other images. It's height is often similar, and it seems strange to do this for something which is merely decorative and appears in everything single battle.
So I decided to click edit and there I realised that there was no intention of doing this, the middle column was set to be a width of 15%, not the ~33% it is now.
And you may also notice on some of the rounds on Oasis that the column sizes are not equal. This is what happens when %s contain elements larger than they should.
So there are two resolutions, this:

View them in Oasis and monobook to come to your decision. My preference is the latter because I think the image is oversized to start with. JBed (talk) 12:40, August 7, 2013 (UTC)
- I did design the logo in Oasis and Monobook so that it would look the best in both. That being said, I think the first of the two is an improvement on my design.
- While I know that you don't like the largeness of the versus symbol, the second one's versus symbol is so small that a lot of the detail of the image is lost (and this makes it look kinda odd in my opinion). The first one is a fitting compromise. ScatheMote 13:14, August 7, 2013 (UTC)
- afasklignaln but the vs. symbol isn't significant. It's not the focus of each fight. Okay, I'll amend it to the first one. Is there anywhere the template is stored so I can amend it there too? JBed (talk) 13:23, August 7, 2013 (UTC)
- The template is stored at User:ScatheMote/MM3P2. ScatheMote 16:31, August 7, 2013 (UTC)

Bravely Default: Flying Fairy[]
This page has recently been moved to Bravely Default in the aftermath of the announcement of the game's English title. But something's gone wrong with the page, though it may just be something on my browser. The search box, activity window and image windows have all been shoved down to the bottom of the page in the aftermath of the move (which was performed twice for some reason, I think a trifling fault with the title), and I can't think of any way of dealing with it. Can you help here? --Crystal Tear (talk) 14:47, August 29, 2013 (UTC)

Suspect user at large: help needed[]
Earlier, I gave you a warning about someone on Wikipedia who was a fanatical anti-Kisate-Toriyama and pro-Ito user who fabricated sources for his/her own benefit. This one was called G-Zay. But I've seen his/her style recently in the articles for Battle System and Hiroyuki Ito. For battle systems, he has undone the work I put in with a good reference saying that Ito was not involved with the battle system for the first Final Fantasy, on top of suggesting that Wikipedia was an unreliable place to go for that kind of thing. And they seem to have done some magnifying and glorifying on the Ito page, judging by the revision history and what I've read. The user is calling him/herself SQEX, and they have appeared within the last month. Please, if you can't do anything yourself, please relay it to the proper authorities. We can't have a user like this on any Final Fantasy article. Believe me, I know. --Crystal Tear (talk) 08:16, September 18, 2013 (UTC)
- Thank you for alerting me; this user has appeared under different names previously. When I get back home later today, I'll look into the appropriate steps that I need to take to deal with this user. ScatheMote 12:02, September 18, 2013 (UTC)
- I don't know if checkuser works like this but could you see if he lives in London? That's pretty much proof he's G-Zay right there -- and enough to block him, imo. The guy's made some constructive edits, but it's overshadowed by piles and piles of nonsense. C A T U S E 14:03, September 18, 2013 (UTC)
- Oops, did I welcome a vandal? O.O Tia-Lewise
14:28, September 18, 2013 (UTC)
- No need to get upset, and he is a vandal, but not the ordinary make-a-mess-of-an-article way. That's part of his cunning. He either uses references interpreted in a certain way, ones that are difficult to check, or ones based on things he has started to create the information that suits him. It's cunning, and highly disruptive on any wiki trying to maintain an accurate, impartial POV. --Crystal Tear (talk) 14:40, September 18, 2013 (UTC)
- Checkuser says he lives in London, so that's that. However, I'm really just tempted at this point to lock the page indefinitely because he has a shifting IP address; he'll just be back in awhile. I don't think I can even range block because the addresses he uses are far apart. ScatheMote 21:33, September 18, 2013 (UTC)

What's with all this paranoia of me being somebody called G-Zay? I merely joined this Wiki to improve FF staff pages. I decided to start with Hiroyuki Ito as I know a lot about his career and most of his details were already covered on the page. Does editing the Hiroyuki Ito page with valid sources suddenly make you suspicious? The user Crystal Tear (talk) is accusing me of being a bad person just because he thinks I'm G-Zay? Where's the logic in that? Even so, he's the one that added incorrect info to the Hiroyuki Ito and Battle System pages that I had to go and correct. I didn't join this place to start being hated. Leave me be to improve pages, and if you have a suspicion that the info in wrong or misinformed, feel free to check the accompanying sources I provide yourself. SQEX (talk) 21:52, September 18, 2013 (UTC)
- If I am mistaken, then I apologize. But on a whole I doubt it. The edits the above user has made (and the way references seem interpreted in a certain way) have too much of a feeling of deja vu for my liking. --Crystal Tear (talk) 21:55, September 18, 2013 (UTC)
- I don't know who G-Zay is, but whatever deceit he did must have been very well done. I say this because all my edits have been legit. Go ahead and check all the sources I provided. Also, I don't know what you mean by my "reference interpretation". If you're talking about me adding that Hiroyuki Ito designed the FFI battle system, that's not an interpretation. Ito outright says he created it in the interview and even goes on to say he made it without ever playing a RPG before. There's no reference interpretation involved. Honestly, I feel you're just paranoid I'm somebody else. Get off my back and give me room to breath and you'll see that all my contributions have sources that are straight to the point. There's no BS make believe. I don't advise you scaring off a new editor just because of your personal paranoia and suspicion. SQEX (talk) 22:09, September 18, 2013 (UTC)
FFX LP[]
'Ello Scathe,
Without giving too much away, if there were to be a break in the FFX LP to play another game, Episode 20 would be the perfect opportunity to do so. I suspect there may be another ten episodes after that, which comprises of the Omega Ruins, Celestial Weapons, Monster Arena, Dark Aeons and the Final Dungeon (though not necessarily in that order). So I am concerned that interest may wane due to the large number of episodes, so sticking another game in the middle may not be a bad idea. Jeppo (Talk | contribs) 13:35, September 24, 2013 (UTC)
What do I do with this?[]
I've written a small opinion piece on what I feel are the stronger, more notable female characters of the series. It's called Women in Final Fantasy. I was wondering if there was a place for it, as I want share it with the Wiki, to give people the option of looking at it and judging what it says. Sorry, I have re-checked my files. Yeah, you were right, I made some fast mistakes by changing the content (still, check again for some dots missing in the last paragraphs). But why my content was deleted.

- I kept your content intact while editing the grammar of what you wrote. The substance of what you wrote is still there; I merely changed the phrasing. Therefore, there is not reason to add what you wrote again; the content remains in the article. ScatheMote 03:00, November 9, 2013 (UTC)

...that your userpage is broken. You, uh, want me to fix that or will you do it yourself? :p
Well that's code I've never seen used on the wiki before. At some point someone must have removed code needed for it to work. Well now it's all, collapsible divs will do the same thing. JBed (talk) 00:27, November 22, 2014 (UTC)
Checkuser request[]
I don't know how long it takes for IP addresses to expire, but could you check if King Lindblum is likely to be SQEX? He has many similar habits — edit warring, a focus on developers (especially Hiroyuki Ito) and a penchant for choosing questionable sources. Thanks C A T U S E 06:15, January 14, 2015 (UTC)
- Definitely is the same guy. Majority of his edits are good but some are just not in good faith, him trying to "sneak in" stuff all the time.Keltainentoukokuu (talk) 10:02, January 14, 2015 (UTC)
- SQEX's IP is way too variable, and he uses a popular UK ISP. We can only really catch him through behaviour, but a checkuser could still show whether or not it's possible. -- Some Color Mage ~ (Talk) 10:47, January 14, 2015 (UTC)
His IP matched, so I blocked him. It won't be the last we hear of him, probably, but we may have gotten rid of him for now. ScatheMote 20:51, January 14, 2015 (UTC)

SXSW Awards[]
Hi, ScatheMote!
Bravely Default has been nominated for Mobile Game of the Year for the SXSW Awards, which Wikia is officially hosting this year! In order to drive any fans to the voting page that might be interested in rallying for their favorite game, we were wondering if we could place a badge on your main page that links to it?
Best regards,
Raylan13 (talk) 18:13, February 4, 2015 (UTC)
Yo[]
Hey, Scathe. Can't help noticing you've archived the page about FFA. I'd like to know at this point what's going on. Is the merge going to happen or not? I'd very much like to know. Primarch Dysley 05:47, August 7, 2015 (UTC)
Request to update Hiroyuki Ito page[]
I was banned from here in 2013 for shit I did on Wikipedia (which in itself is a stupid reason, as this Wiki and Wikipedia are not even linked). However, because there are Wikipedia editors that are high ranking users here, they got me banned from here for my Wikipedia actions.
Anyway, fuck all that. It's in the past. The issue I have now is that whenever I try and update or correct the Hiroyuki Ito page, I'm immediately reverted and my account banned for 'using alts'. Therefore, I'm asking you, because you're an admin and previously reverted my edits and banned my accounts, to read through and verify my edit and add it yourself.
The edit is here. You can compare it to the current page you reverted it to see what I've added here.
I have edited many, many other pages since I was banned here with many different accounts (just being honest with you), so the ban really is meaningless. The issue I have that whenever I edit this specific Hiroyuki Ito page, I'm instantly banned. I'm a fan of the man's work, but the way people like you are reverting my edits, you'd think I was doing libel to the man or some shit. So please look through my edit and verify that it's all good and add it yourself. I know that if I make another account ad try and add to it, I'll just get it banned. I'm tired of this cycle repeating. I don't want to still be trying to add shit to this man's page in 2016, as I have other more important stuff on my plate. Therefore, I'm asking you to please just put an end to this.
Verify my edit. Add it to the page. Case closed. No more new accounts by me and I'll leave the ito page in peace (until XII HD and XVI are announced). Thank you. Hyrule Ivalice (talk) 10:22, December 13, 2015 (UTC)
- No you weren't, you were banned for stuff you did here, and that you continue to fail to see this shows me that I don't think you're ready to be unbanned. We explained it already:
You were banned for annoying everyone else, then ignoring the preventative measures we put in place to try and stop you from annoying everyone else - twice - and finally sockpuppeting to get around the temp blocks we issued.
- Honestly, I was going to say "thank you for making an honest attempt to reach out to us, now we can view your edit in good faith", but really? Because you included this huge long rant, and still clearly don't understand at all why you were blocked, I'm going to ban this account. And if as you say it's "SO MEANINGLESS I CAN JUST USE A SOCKPUPPET OHHHHHHHHHHHHH", we'll continue to block those too until you sort your attitude out.
- Come back when you've grown up.--
Technobliterator TC 13:05, December 13, 2015 (UTC)
- Ahem, I believe you mean "don't come back at all", Techno.
- G-Zay, your ban is permanent, and your actions over the past year have pissed away any chance of appeal. You do not have any right to negotiate with us, and we will not allow any of your edits to the Ito page through, regardless of how valid it is.
- Sick of this cycle? Please go ahead and at this line to your hosts file
0.0.0.0 finalfantasy.wikia.com
- That way, we no longer have to put up with you and you won't be tempted to come back, everybody wins! -- Some Color Mage ~ (Talk) 21:48, December 13, 2015 (UTC)
- ETA 21:52, December 13, 2015 (UTC): Oh wait, sorry, I meant past two years, I forgot we were dealing with your shit back in 2013!
I never pissed anybody off here. I remember the reason for the ban vividly. I was banned from Wikipedia in April 2013 and then editors from there who also edit here reported what I did to people here and then I was banned here, too. That's why I still feel the ban was unfair till this day. Now y'all are changing the story by saying I was banned for being mean to people here and pissing them off? That's bullshit.
I'm not trying to appeal the ban, as there's no way I'm coming back here with the stigma you've placed on me. The ban was over 3 years ago now, but your hate for me is as strong as ever. Hate so strong that you've twisted the reason of my ban to something worse than it was.
All I'm requesting now is not for my own sake, but in good faith for the Wiki itself. You won't believe it but I've a massive number of edits with various accounts since my ban. If you knew them all, there's no way you'd view me as a bad editor. My issue now is that there's valid information missing from the Hiroyuki Ito page that should be added. You need to look past the person providing this info. That's why I'm saying that an admin should verify the edit and add it themselves. Add what they feel is warrented and ignore what's not. I know that as long as I try and add it, it'll be reverted.
Look past who is presenting the info. If somebody is banned from scientific research, but later found the cure for cancer, does that mean y'all are gonna ignore the cure for cancer just because the person that found it was banned? Think about all the lives his contribution could save and new medicines that could be invented. This is no different to what is going on with this Ito page. Come on, people. Think reasonably and not with eyes clouded by hate. We are all FF fans here, so as long as the info being added is legit and useful, just add it. That's all I'm appealing. You don't have to unban me, but please don't let your hate for me affect the progress of this Wiki. Peace and love. Midgar Hyrule (talk) 02:13, December 14, 2015 (UTC)
- A simple look at the Ito talk page when you were arguing about how the Japanese Wikipedia should be an acceptable source, combined with all the edit warring at the time is more than enough proof you're lying out your ass about not pissing people off. Get out and stay out. -- Some Color Mage ~ (Talk) 02:19, December 14, 2015 (UTC)
- Speaking as one who doesn't know anything about what you did at Wikipedia and doesn't care, there's several things to consider.
- First, that you have repeatedly used questionable sources to support your information, and even in that link you provide for the changes you want done, one of your sources is a dead link. Contrary to what you ask, no, we can't look past who is adding the information, not when it's someone with your track record. You have violated any right to trust.
- Second, most of your edits to the page are pointless fluff, just minor wording adjustments or additions that don't improve the article substantially. The entire "Influence" section is unneeded, SE's employees work closely together and of course they're gonna help each other out on projects and look up to members of the company who have worked there longer than them. Aside from Nomura's entry, we have one guy saying that Ito influenced him to join the industry. I'm sure there are dozens, hundreds of people, who played a particular Final Fantasy and were inspired to go into game development because of it; why note this one in particular? If anything, Trivia like this should go on the Final Fantasy V page, noting the creator of Disgaea was inspired by FF5 and Disgaea's gameplay takes some cues from Final Fantasy, but that's it, and even then there's a debate to be had if we should do it or not with how many JRPG gameplay conventions across the genre influence each other back and forth.
- Third, you have edit warred on this and other pages for years, abusing multiple sock puppets, ignoring your blocks and warnings, and not changing your behavior or much of the information you're adding. You have lost any right to good faith a long time ago.
Latin[]
Hello again! Wondering if I could bug you for some more translations of Latin words? :) The words are - Lightning, Wild, Nature, Forest, and Crystal. DrakeyC (talk) 12:37, December 13, 2016 (UTC)
- Fulmen (Lightning), ferus/fera (wild), natura (nature), silva (forest), crustallum (crystal). Hope that helps. ScatheMote 04:58, December 14, 2016 (UTC)
Mod promotion[]
Well, this came as quite a surprise. I pretty much forgot about even applying for modship up until now, haha! But anyway, I'm really excited about being a staff member now. :D
As for my Dissidia character, hmm... I don't know, I guess Y'shtola is not available? As far as I know her whole art has never been released and it looks like we only have character icons for the two PSP Dissidias. If it can't be her then I'd like to be Tifa, I believe no one has taken her yet. Also, I'd like to leave the bio to you because I kinda suck at writing those. :P Miyu

HP on the Magitek Infantry enemies is broken[]
There appears to be a problem with the health points on Final Fantasy XV enemies. Check the pages and correct this problem.

- Hello, I think I fixed it, but in future we'll need more information than that to help.
