Crater is a small unrevisitable field map in Final Fantasy VII. Visited at the start of "That Which Waits in the Northernmost Reaches", the field map comprises the areas connecting Gaea's Cliff to the Whirlwind Maze.
The field map represents the North Crater in field form. In addition to this field map, there is also a screen representing the North Crater that is seen the Northern Cave, named "Northern Cave Crater", and is a brief area before the party descends into the Northern Cave.
Layout[]
The Crater field comprises only three screens, of which two. The first is the descent, a short screen from the start of Gaea's Cliff, which is a run down the side of the crater. A Sephiroth clone is found here, and a few enemies are fought.
The second is a smoke area that connects to the Whirlwind Maze. No enemy encounters are fought.

Crater comprises only two screens visited during the quest, as the majority of the quest takes place in the Whirlwind Maze. The area has no items.
