Arika is a Japanese video game development studio based in Tokyo, Japan. Initially formed in 1995 as ARMtech K.K, the company was founded by Mega Man and Street Fighter creator Akira Nishitani, when he and other former Capcom employees left to form their own company. They are most famous for their once continued collaborations with Capcom and the Street Fighter series, being the first 3D sub-installment series Street Fighter EX, until a falling out around 2001 occurred when Capcom offered to buy out Arika. Since then, the company has mostly worked freelance jobs for other major developers like Nintendo's Dr. Mario and Tetris, Taito's Bust-A-Move, and Namco's Pac-Man series, and have managed to return to the fighting video game market with their characters in the 2018 fighting game Fighting Layer EX. Some of their in-house composers for their video games were Shinji Hosoe, Takayuki Aihara, and Ayako Saso, whose work was prominently featured for Street Fighter EX and their Technic Beat rhythm game series, and contributed music and sound work for the Squaresoft samurai weapons fighting series Bushido Blade.
They helped to work with Square Enix on the 2022 Nintendo Switch Chocobo Racing sequel, Chocobo GP.
