The Food type is a fanon Pokémon type created by SphealingBlue(t∣b∣c). It was originally inspired by an idea they had for a fanon Pokémon game in 2013. It was introduced in an unknown generation, where 37 Pokémon and 8 moves were updated to become Food-type.
Food-type moves are super effective against 3 types, those being Poison, Dark and Dragon. Against Poison, Food is super effective because many illnesses and ailments are believed to be curable with certain types of food and food-derived medicines. Against Dark, Food is super effective because certain negative emotions can sometimes be cured with food (you're not you when you're hungry). Against Dragon, Food is super effective because in many fairy tales, the gluttony of dragons can prove to be their weakness.
Food-type moves are resisted by 3 types, those being Steel, Grass and Ghost. Against Steel, Food is resisted because mechanised systems such as robots do not require food to eat. Against Grass, Food is resisted because many plants produce types of food products such as fruit in order to aid pollination and seed dispersal. Against Ghost, Food is resisted because ghosts do not require physical sustenance from food.
Defense[]
Food-type Pokémon are weak to 2 types, those being Bug and Steel. Against Bug, Food is weak because pests such as locusts and ants are known to ravage food supplies. Against Steel, Food is weak because metal utensils such as knives are often used to prepare food for consumption.
Food-type Pokémon resist 3 types, those being Poison, Ice and Grass. Against Poison, Food is resistant for the aforementioned reason that some illnesses can be cured by eating. Against Ice, Food is resistant because many foods are suitable for freezing. Against Grass, Food is resistant as certain types of herbs can be used to enhance the flavour of foods.
Food-type Pokémon are immune to Dark, for the aforementioned reason that certain negative emotions can sometimes be cured with food.
Pokémon[]
As of Generation IX, there are 37 Food-type Pokémon or 3.67% of all Pokémon, making it the rarest type.
Almost all Food-type Pokémon have elements of their design obviously inspired by certain food products, such as fruits or confectionery.
Please note that these only apply to certain Pokémon games.

Trivia[]
With the introduction of the Food-type, several Pokémon gained 4x weaknesses that they did not have before:
Tropius, Cherubi, Cherrim, Bounsweet, Steenee and Tsareena gained 4x weaknesses to the Bug-type. (Exeggcute and Exeggutor, despite having their type changed, retained their 4x weakness to Bug.)
Togepi, Vanillite, Vanillish, Vanilluxe, Swirlix, Slurpuff, Milcery, Alcremie, Nacli, Naclstack and Garganacl gained 4x weaknesses to the Steel-type.
Alolan Grimer, Alolan Muk, Stunky, Skuntank, Drapion, Deino, Zweilous, Hydreigon, Dragalge, Guzzlord, Naganadel, Eternatus and Roaring Moon gained 4x weaknesses to the Food-type.
Pumpkaboo and Gourgeist went from having 5 weaknesses (Flying, Ghost, Fire, Ice and Dark) to 2 (Ghost and Steel) as a result of their secondary type being changed from Grass to Food.
With the introduction of the Food-type, the evolutionary families of Farfetch'd, Galarian Farfetch'd, Exeggute, Miltank, Combee and Vanillite gained unique type combinations.
The Food-type originated in a Pokémon game idea created by Spheal when they were 10 years old.
Credit goes to AgentMuffin(t∣b∣c) as I was mostly inspired by her Bunny-type page and I mostly copied the layout and page structure.
