The Unten series, formerly called That One Series With a Long and Uninteresting Name That I Do Not Wish to Remember, is the most prominent Fantendo franchise. It started closely after the opening of Fantendo with the apparition of the wiki's mascot, Unten in 2007. Unten quickly obtained his own game in 2010 with Fissure followed by many sequels, remakes, or other spin-offs and crossovers including Fantendo Smash Bros. games and Fantendo fiction, like Fantendo the Animated Series.
Most of these games (or fiction) follow the story of Unten, usually accompanied by Zerita and sometimes his pet Fanti, in his quest to save his planet Zeon and the universe from the Doomuli, in particular Doomulus Grime. Some of the stories deviate from this in some way, as many take place in other universes or timelines changing the main characters and stakes.
With the introduction of the Fantendoverse, where multiple Fantendo series merged, the Unten series expanded outside its own games since Unten is usually the main character of these crossovers. It was especially the case during the time of The New Fantendoverse, where all the series characters were present and developed through crossovers. Storywise, the series include Fantendoverse games and fiction.

Unten first appeared as a main character in Fantendo Origins which also introduced the Fantendoverse. Despite being Unten's early story, the next installments, Fissure, will completely ignore Unten's adventures and origin here to create what would be Unten's official debut. Despite some references in later games and the re-integration of original characters introduced here, this series is defined as non-canon.

Gameplay[]
The first game, Fissure, was originally planned as a 3D action-adventure game with platforming mechanics. Referencing Nintendo 64 games, Plumber described it as a game where the player first "plays like Mario" with Unten being able to walk (and even roll like a Goron from Majora's Mask) in a 3D environment, to punch the enemies or jump until he can equip himself with weapons like sword or crossbow. By default, most of the games in the series follow this pattern.
Less common, some installments are platforming role-playing video games, with Unten navigating in a side-scrolling 2D environment and fighting his enemies in turn-based combats. It's the case for Fissure (2022), Unbound, or Paper Unten.
The series doesn't limit itself to adventure games, a variety of genres are represented here with party games (Triannual Unten Meeting Returns), platform fighters (Fantendo Smash Bros. Fission), farm simulations (Fissure Farm), or even FPS (Raiders series).
Fiction[]
Most of the Related Games, games that are not part of the main series but continue the series' development, are fiction presented as shows (Fantendo the Animated Series), movies (Fantendo - Doomed), visual novels (Fantendo Visual Novel: Fracture), or story mode in crossover games (Fantendo Smash Bros. Shattered).
Transformations[]
Most of the main characters throughout the franchise possess the ability to change into a powerful form. The most frequent version in the games is Midas Unten, an exclusive form of Unten that allows him to turn his body into gold after consuming a Golden Blump fruit. Numerous other transformations appear through the series, the first being Animal Form in Unbound (2010) where Unten can turn himself into various animals, and one of the most recurrent being the Hyper Form which various characters can use to increase their strength and abilities.
Story[]
With a series in which any Fantendo user is free to create their own chapter, Unten barely follows a story as the continuity is frequently rebooted sometimes even before getting a conclusion in the first place. Also, with side stories and spin-off stories, there is a chaotic side to Unten's overarching plot.
The main games, the ones that claim to follow or to remake the story started with the first game Fissure, also change sometimes drastically between series but some elements stay frequent.
- Unten is a blue Beorn from the planet Zeon, discovered as a baby by Chief Dongorio and raised within his tribe alongside friends like Zerita and Mondo. Their peaceful life is disrupted by Doomulus Grime extracting Zeon's precious resources and threatening the planet’s stability. Embracing his role as the chosen one, Unten sets out with Zerita and Mondo to confront Doomulus Grime and the Doomuli—a faction of robots bent on conquering the universe. Along the way, Unten gains new allies, such as Fanti, Boare, and Queen Pixella, but also faces formidable foes, including his arch-nemesis, Netnu or UNT3N. Despite his efforts, Unten ultimately fails to stop Doomulus Grime from shattering Zeon with the devastating Giga-Drill.
The Earth saga[]
In the New Fantendoverse, Unten's story takes place mainly on Earth where he shares the spotlight with a large cast of original characters from Fantendo. The summary below only focuses on Unten's story development:
- After Zeon's collapse, Unten's ship guides him to Earth, where Rachel helps him adapt to life on the planet and process the trauma of his homeworld's destruction. Over time, Unten gathers a group of heroes to defend Earth from various threats. Things take a dramatic turn when Unten discovers his ability to travel through time, at the cost of fracturing space-time. The reckless use of this power, from him and others, leads to the Shattering, forcing two deities, The Fan and The Enemy, to reboot the universe.
- In the new universe, Unten follows a similar path—landing on Earth after Zeon's fall and reuniting with heroes, including other surviving or dimension-traveling Beorns. Together, they form the Fantendo Firehouse, a group tasked with protecting the universe. They face powerful deities like The Threat, who seeks to reclaim her stolen universe; The Mistake, who aims to reboot existence again; and The Fool, who desires the original universe's return. Hope emerges when Unten learns from The Other that all Beorns possess the Descension power, capable of stripping deities of their abilities. Armed with this knowledge and the powerful weapon Imperium, Unten leads his team against these cosmic forces. Their journey culminates in a sworn battle to stop a Doomuli invasion on Earth, united in their resolve to defend their new home.
Proto-series story[]
Before the official Unten story in 2010, Unten appeared in numerous "fan fiction". Those first stories were completely ignored and are considered non-canon despite a series as rich in story variations as Unten.
- Unten was found as a baby by two tree entities, Gnarled I and Rose Tree, sent by The Fan to take care of him. He eventually grows up to become the highest knight serving King Plumber in the kingdom of the Fantendoverse. Armed with his light sword, he defends the Fantendo Castle against The Enemy's army and against his own nemesis, Netnu.
Major Characters[]
The series counts many characters and characters' variants from other universes. Also, characters come through drastic changes throughout the series, changing their appearance and sometimes their own story. Listed below are every character that appears in at least three series and/or stand-alone.
Main protagonists[]

Recurring items[]
Some items are deeply associated with the series as a whole or are recurring enough to be part of it.
Trivia[]
- The original series title comes from the first sentence of Cervantes’ novel Don Quixote: "In some village in La Mancha, whose name I do not wish to remember, there dwelt not so long ago a gentleman of the type wont to keep an unused lance, an old shield, a skinny old horse, and a greyhound for racing."
- Unten is a shortening of Untendo, another name considered for Fantendo.
- Fissure is the name of the first game in the series. Because of this, most remakes/reboot series launch using the same title. There are four games titled Fissure, two of them from the same year, 2022.
- Multiple entries in the series attempt to expand on Unten's lore by introducing his biological family members. Different versions of Unten's father, in particular, are depicted several times throughout with no consistent characterization, including the "Robot Beorn" from Unten: Mistaken Time, Unton from Undo-able: Unten Eleven, Xavier Bluzen, and Doomulus Regime.
- There is actually a New Fantendoverse illustration of Abbaye. Ratsky, Abbaye's father, is described in Ratsky's bio: "[Ratsky] has a family that looks exactly like him for the most part, with only differences in color."
Notes[]
- Most games in the series lack a proper conclusion, often being "abandoned" during the early stages of story development. The summaries of these games present all the available information but refrain from creating a resolution where none exists, leaving many summaries with open-ended narratives.
- A few games related to the series listed here expand Unten's story but some of them only do it partially, it's especially the case for shows like Fantendo Now. To offer a more comprehensive summary of the Unten series events, only the part focusing on Unten or the other Zeon characters is summarized in the game list, which is why not all episodes in a show are present in its episode summaries.
- Fantendo's original content spans three distinct eras: Classic (2007-2014), New Fantendoverse (2015-early 2020), which rebooted many key series, and Modern (2020-present), focused on standalone reboots. The character section on this page showcases art from each era to reflect their evolution.
- The Unnamed Story Arcs related in the New Fantendoverse section were shared with their creator Exotoro (t∣b∣c) after the cancellation of the New Fantendoverse. This is how the New Fantendoverse fictions were supposed to continue before the cancellation.
