Nun the Wiser is a minor character of Dragon Quest IV. A nun blessed by the Goddess with prophetic powers, she is located at House of Prophecy, a shrine located between Mamon and Havre Léon. The veracity of her claims is proven by both Meena and Kiryl being able to sense the presence of the deity within the building while the good Nun is inside.
When spoken to the first time in Chapter 4, she warns Maya and Meena that the man they are serching for, Balzack, is protected by a powerful darkness, but spurns them to not lose faith, assuring that they are in turn protected by the Goddess herself. Her meeting with Nun the Wiser is one of the many reasons that leads Meena to the realization that her and her sister's destiny is to find and gather the other Chosen.
When spoken to in Chapter 5, Nun the Wiser will reveal that Ragnar came to her during his search for the hero, just before marching to the Palais of Léon, and that the Goddess had described their visage to him. If spoken again just after recruiting the soldier, she is glad that the Chosen Ones have finally all gethered, and tries to warn them about the impending resurrection of Estark, but she is mysteriously attacked before she can fully speak his name, and as verified by Torneko's Party Chat, she very literally vanished before the party's eyes, never to be seen again.
Though she will still be dead in the NES version after Estark's defeat whether visited or not, in the remakes she will be instead be still alive and warn the Chosen that despite Estark's demise, a new threat is rising to destroy the world.
