Summary[]
Gen argues for and against joining the Kingdom of Science, pointing out that theirs is all about hard work whereas the Tsukasa Empire offers him an easy life and maybe even a harem. Suika asks what a harem is, but Gen avoids the question. Kohaku says he's too shallow to be trusted, and points her knives at him. Senku says not to bother, since he plans on making something that'll definitely sway Gen to their side: a power plant.
Senku begins collecting Chrome's copper to make wire, then lightning strikes: the perfect opportunity, had they already made the wire!. The villagers run back inside the village for shelter, while Senku rushes to make the wire. They quickly melt down the copper while Suika grabs the lacquer. They coat an iron bar in the lacquer, then make copper wire by carving a channel down one of the village bridge's planks.
While wrapping the wire, Shovel alerts the village that something nefarious is transpiring, and Magma heads over to deal with it. Gen decides to help them out by preventing a fight. He makes flowers appear and disappear in front of Magma and his lackey's eyes, making them believe Gen's magic powers. Gen claims they're here to make the lightning vanish, and after some time they decide to leave.
Everyone else rushes up the bald mountain, where Chrome originally found the magnetic rocks. it is the perfect place for lightning to strike. They don't have time to put up the scaffolding, so Kohaku grabs Kinro's golden spear and stabs it into the ground just in time, with the rod and wire coil tied to it being stuck by lightning. It took less than a moment, but the magnet has been created. Kinro is distraught however, seeing his spear has turned to dust and ashes.
