The Water Buffalos are characters featured in the Jungle Cruise attraction at the Disney Parks.
History[]
Background[]
These buffalos are a species of domesticated water buffalo that inhabits certain parts of the jungle. According to a message by Nigel Greenwater, it is said that the Settler's Field was flooded by the rains brought by the Schweitzer Falls, causing the buffalo to be attracted to an area representing the Amazon River.
Appearances[]
Jungle Cruise[]
In the Disneyland version of the attraction, the water buffalos and python are one of the last animals encountered throughout the attraction. They would be seen observing a python hanging from a tree with the buffalos behind them, as it is shown that the buffalos are standing back while facing the python.
In the Tokyo Disneyland version of the attraction, the buffalos are encountered at the end of the attraction where they are encountered after the elephant scene, followed by Chief Nah-Mee appearing at the end of the attraction.
Jingle Cruise[]
The buffalos reprise their role as they did in the standard version of the attraction, albeit with Christmas decorations all over them.
Trivia[]
- There used to be three adult buffalos in an older version of Jungle Cruise, but the scene featuring buffalos was reworked, due to many refurbishments of the attraction at Disneyland.[1]
- Water buffalos are not native to South America in real life, unlike in the Jungle Cruise attraction. How they ended up in a section representing the Amazon might have been due to a mention of the Amazon River flooded by rains brought by the Schweitzer Falls which caused the buffalos to become attracted.
