Robert Hennessey, Earl of Poynton is an antagonist in the Disney+ series Renegade Nell. He is a wealthy earl looking to take control away from the queen to further his beliefs.
Robert Hennessey, Earl of Poynton has maintained a high position and status, becoming something of an advisor to the Blancheford family. His influence is not as natural as one would suspect, as he maintains dark magic up his sleeves which he uses to manipulate Thomas Blancheford into killing his father. The reason is to help build his way up and increase his Jacobite influence by removing the Queen and restoring power to the high class rather than the people. What he did not count on was that Nell Jackson would stand in his way, forcing Hennessey to enlist Thomas' sister Sofia Wilmot whom he sees dark potential in.
Personality[]
Robert Hennessey is a calm and intimidating influence. While he is regal and reserved, he is diabolical and sinister and uses crafty tactics to get ahead. While even tempered, he can become violently furious, using his dark magic to his advantage and manipulating those around him. He occasionally takes glee in his actions and genuinely believes that only higher status can make the necessary decisions.

While his given name in promotional material is stated to be Robert Hennessey, he is never actually referred to by name. He is simply referred to as "Earl" or "The Earl" throughout the show.
