In the episode where they appear at, Mr. Fredricksen receives a package from a neighboring woman which contains adorable puppies inside it. Seeing the puppies, Dug reacts to them in awe just as he plans to have the puppies playing with him, so Carl leaves Dug to take care of them. The puppies start acting playfully with Dug just as they happily play with him. As they continue playing with Dug, Carl offers the puppies lunch and Dug attempts to eat one, but the puppies constantly continue eating Dug's food to which after lunch, they decide to take a nap. However, upon accidentally stepping on a bee toy, the puppies suddenly wake up just as he tells them to be very gentle in taking care of Dug's toys. The puppies play hard on Dug's bee toy just as the Puppies attempt to catch Dug's toys, Dug tells them to not be very hard on his toys just as he sees the Squirrel wandering around the yard, causing him to drop the toys and the puppies to play with his toys roughly. This leads to Dug protecting his toys from being damaged by the puppies. Seeing the Squirrel appearing in the yard, Dug instructs the puppies to face the Squirrel which he is seeing getting nuts from the bird feeder, telling the puppies to scare him away just as the puppies furiously bark at the Squirrel, causing him to retreat. Upon doing so, Dug and the puppies howl together and later that evening, Dug plays with the puppies to which Carl tells him that the puppies need to go home just as the neighboring woman praises Carl for thanking care of her puppies just as Dug places the squeaking pig toy on the crate where the puppies are at just before the neighbor leaves.
