Gummi Glen is an underground home beneath an old tree, and it is the living space of the main family of Gummi Bears in Adventures of the Gummi Bears. The Glen is filled with secret passages, rooms and tunnels that were left behind and forgotten by the ancient Gummies, but rediscovered by the modern Gummies of Gummi Glen.
Description[]
The hub of Gummi Glen is the main hall with its dinner table, fireplace and seating area, musical instruments, artwork on the wall and on chests and tables all around, as well as an upper level gallery. The main hall is located underneath a pond that is connected to a water filtering system, streaming from the tree's roots. A glass ceiling serves as both the main hall's overhead light, and as an aquarium. The Glen's kitchen is right next to the main hall, and the Gummies' bedrooms are nearby.
The large library that prominently houses the Great Book of Gummi is also not far, and within it lies an entrance to a hallway that leads to many more previously forgotten, but rediscovered rooms that house the Great Gummies' many secrets and inventions (as discovered in the episode "Someday My Prints Will Come").
Gummi Glen was once home to hundreds of Gummi Bears, but after their exodus, the Gummies that stayed behind dwindled until only six were left: Zummi, Grammi, Gruffi, Tummi, Sunni, and Cubbi Gummi.
Following the rescue of Gusto Gummi and his pet toucan Artie Deco, the two spend the harsher winter months in Gummi Glen, while preferring to spend the warmer part of the year inside an avant-garde artist's refuge cave on the side of a cliff behind a waterfall not far from the Glen.
Through an ancient network of Quick Tunnels, Gummi Glen itself is connected to a vast array of places in the kingdom surrounding nearby Dunwyn Castle, and reaching all the way to the old Gummi city of Ursalia in the Northern Mountains. The system allows the Gummies to travel great distances in a relatively short amount of time.
The vast tunnel system of Gummi Glen is kept hospitably cool through a complex air ventilation system located at Moria Mountain, as depicted in the episode "The Magnificent Seven Gummies".
In the series finale, "King Igthorn," Igthorn demolishes Gummi Glen, aided by a tropical termite, in his successful bid to conquer Dunwyn. Presumably, the colony moves to Ursalia, as that is were they are seen during the series' parting shots.
Trivia[]
- During the developmental process, the place was described as a "magical wonderland", with several smaller houses built directly under the lake that was magically suspended above the underground Glen. Here it was located within a place named "Lorath Wood".
- In the episode "Day of the Beevilweevils", the Gummies find out what a long abandoned and demolished Glen might look like, when they travel to Gummi Glen's sibling site of South Gumton, deep inside Fangwood Forest.
