Background[]
Physical appearance[]
Grace is a teenage Taiwanese-American girl with black hair, fair skin, and brown eyes. Her usual outfit consists of large green dark jacket featuring a dog on the front. She wears a small purple ponytail, a mint green and yellow hair clips in her hair, and bracelets in her arms. When playing hockey, she wears a Foghorns jersey complete with ice skates, hockey pads, and helmet covered in stickers.
During presentation class, she wears short-sleeved green 'Save The Planet' earth t-shirt.
Role in the film[]
Grace first appears doing a presentation on money in front of her class, only to clumsily drop her jar of money on floor. As the class laughs at her, Riley comes to assist her and kindly assures her that she (Riley) drops things all the time too. Another classmate of theirs, Bree also assists them, causing all three of the girls to become friends.
The three girls become star players in their middle school's hockey team, the Foghorns. When they helped their team win the state championship, they impressed Coach Roberts, who invited them to come to a hockey skills camp. Riley, Grace, and Bree were excited as Coach Roberts often chose players for her team, the FireHawks, from that camp.
Riley's parents drove all three girls to the camp. On the way, Bree and Grace confessed that they wouldn't be on the FireHawks because they were going to a different high school. Riley was disappointed, but they decided to take advantage of being able to play on the same team one last time.
At the camp, Grace and Bree got separated from Riley when Riley ran into Val Ortiz, the captain of the FireHawks. They were reunited in the locker room, but got into trouble for goofing off together when the coach called for them to settle down. This led to the whole team being sent to skate lines.
After the drills, the coach divided them into two teams. Grace and Bree wanted all three of them to be on the same team, but Riley went to the other team with Val instead.
When they overheard Riley tell Val and her friends that she didn't like Get Up and Glow, Grace and Bree reminded her they'd just gone to one of their concerts and had a good time, much to Grace feeling rude to Riley’s weird attitude as she and Bree go out. Soon they spent the rest of the camp apart. On the third and final day, Grace and Bree saw Riley with her red hair changed as they ignore her. Later, they played in a scrimmage with Bree and Grace on one team and Riley on the other. Grace and Riley came together for the face-off and Grace told Riley to have a good game. Riley said the same back. During the game, Riley played very aggressively and eventually accidentally ran into Grace, sending her flying on the ice. As a result, Riley was sent to the penalty box while Bree and Coach Roberts checked on Grace.
Grace was able to return to the game and as play continued, Grace noticed Riley struggling to breathe in the box. She and Bree checked on Riley, who was having a panic attack. Riley admitted she was being a jerk to them and apologized to Grace and Bree for her behavior. They forgave her and they hugged. Then they returned to the game together.
Later, after they'd returned to school, Grace and Bree took a silly selfie that they sent to Riley on the day she was supposed to hear if she made the FireHawks or not.
