"Road Trip" is the second segment of the second episode of the Disney Channel animated series Kiff.
Synopsis[]
A road trip goes awry when scary-looking bikers pursue the Chatterleys and Barry.
Plot[]
The Chatterleys are renting a car at Carlyle's Cars for their road trip. Kiff, who finds that their road trips tend to be boring, has invited Barry along, hoping his presence will add some fun to the trip. As everyone gets into the car, the muffler begins to come loose. It soon becomes apparent why Kiff dreads road trips with her family: Martin's road trip rules are highly restrictive, and he also insists on making everyone sing "The Singalong Song", a song which Kiff finds extremely irritating. The song's lyrics assert that if someone does not sing along to it, bad things will happen.
Driving down the open road, Martin leads everyone in a singalong of "The Singalong Song", but Kiff refuses to sing along. As they drive on, Martin spoils Kiff and Barry's fun by stopping them from eating a snack, sitting on their knees, and opening a window to accept a snack from Snekole, who is in a nearby car. When Kiff and Barry see a biker behind them, Kiff convinces Barry to defy Martin's rules by joining her in making funny faces at the biker. The biker is initially amused, but the expression on her face then turns serious, making Kiff and Barry fearful that they offended her.
Beryl asks Martin to make a pit stop at a gas station, where they buy some souvenirs from the gift stop. As their car is leaving, Kiff and Barry see the biker lady again, this time with her entire crew. Kiff notices that they are all wearing jackets emblazoned with the acronym "FBM", which she assumes stands for "Furious Bike Monsters". The bikers spot Kiff and Barry and seemingly give the two the stink eye. Later, Beryl asks Martin to stop again because she has sighted a blue-footed booby. Kiff sees the bikers approaching and throws them off by camouflaging the car with souvenir towels. Unaware of the situation, Beryl assumes Kiff is following a tip from Beryl's birdwatching blog.
The drive continues. Barry draws a picture of him and Kiff attacking the biker lady, but Martin passes gas and opens a window to release the smell, causing the wind to blow the drawing out of the car and onto the biker's face, as she and her crew are directly behind. Martin then stops over at an ice cream shop. Beryl lines up behind another biker to play the shop's crane game and impatiently pesters him to hurry up, causing him to lose his focus while playing. She ends up winning the stuffed toy he wanted, and he leaves angrily. Beryl tells Kiff and Barry about her interaction with the biker, and when questioned further, she confirms that the biker had the initials "FBM" on his jacket. Kiff and Barry inform Beryl that they are being pursued by the biker's crew.
Martin buys ice cream cones for everyone. Beryl, Kiff and Barry see the rest of the bikers in the distance and hurriedly finish their ice cream, but an oblivious Martin eats his ice cream slowly to savor it, so Beryl smacks it out of his hands. They all get in the car and continue driving, but soon find themselves surrounded by the pursuing bikers. Beryl, Kiff and Barry explain their respective run-ins with the biker crew to Martin. To evade them, Martin drives off the road and into the desert, then down a cliffside. During the chase, Martin's miniature singalong gong is rung, prompting everyone to sing "The Singalong Song".
The bikers eventually catch up to the car and stop it in its tracks. However, they then proceed to repair and clean the car, to the surprise of its occupants. The biker lady explains that they are mechanics who began pursuing the car after she noticed its damaged muffler while Kiff and Barry were making funny faces; she then reveals that the crew's acronym actually stands for "Fender Bender Menders", and also compliments Barry's drawing of her. With the situation resolved, Beryl decides to give the stuffed toy to the biker from the ice cream shop, while another biker gives Martin an honorary FBM jacket in recognition of his driving skills.
At the end of the drive, Kiff and Barry are surprised to find themselves back at Carlyle's Cars. Martin reveals that they were merely taking the car for a test drive in preparation for the actual road trip.
