Smellephants on Parade

Smellephants on Parade is an interactive experience featured in the Storybook Circus section of Fantasyland located at the Magic Kingdom at the Walt Disney World Resort.

History[]

On July 27, 2023, it was announced that a Dumbo-themed interactive experience would be coming to the Storybook Circus area of Fantasyland at the Magic Kingdom. According to the Disney Parks Twitter account, it was revealed that the attraction would be presented in the style of a "family-friendly 'search and sniff' adventure" to be added in the Storybook Circus area at the Magic Kingdom. The post consisted of a concept art of an elephant statue referencing the "Pink Elephants on Parade" sequence from Dumbo. It was also revealed that the interactive experience would be sponsored by Scentsy, the official home fragrance for the Walt Disney World Resort.^[1] More details were revealed on July 28 of that year that Cast Members would provide guests a "Smellephants on Parade" map and sticker sheet at the ticket booth located at the Big Top Souvenirs area where assistants would help guests explore Storybook Circus to find the Smellephant statues and record their unique scents. It was also revealed that Scentsy would become the sponsor of Dumbo the Flying Elephant.^[2]

On December 31, 2023, site preparation for the Smellephants on Parade attraction began where the large rows of hedges were removed. Following this, a large section of landscape on the right of Dumbo the Flying Elephant was removed in preparation for the installation of the elephant statue.^[3]

On April 4, 2024, the Big Top Souvenirs ticket booth went under construction in preparation for the Smellephants on Parade experience in order for the booth to provide stickers and maps for guests finding the elephants. On April 15, 2024, signs reading," New Act Debuting Soon" were placed within the Storybook Circus area of the Magic Kingdom as a teaser for the upcoming "Smellephants on Parade" experience, followed by wooden posts where the elephant figures would be installed on the paths, alongside the Smellephant figures being installed within the further days in preparation for the attraction and the ticket booth later unveiled for the interactive experience.^[4][5][6][7]

Smellephants on Parade takes the form of an interactive experience while exploring the Storybook Circus area inspired by the "Pink Elephants on Parade" musical sequence. Complimentary sticker sheets and maps can be picked up at the Big Top Souvenirs ticket booth at the Storybook Circus area where guests follow the signs directing them to Timothy Q. Mouse placed within the area to be a "whiff-sistant" to help find an elephant to be part of Dumbo's new act. Once completed, they approach the Cast Member so that they can play this interactive game. The map given contains a note written by Timothy who advises the guest to find all the Smellephant using the map and a sticker sheet to mark the areas where the Smellephants are at.

Each area at Storybook Circus has a total of eight stickers for guests to place, totaling over eight stickers representing the eight Smellephant statues. Guests look around Storybook Circus by following the map, exploring each area of the section so that they can look for the clues about each Smellephant statue. The flavors of the Smellephant statues are based on typical concessions one would eat as they enjoy the circus and are as follows:

• Popcorn
• Shade Ice
• Pink Lemonade
• Bubblegum
• Churro
• Corn Dog
• Cotton Candy
• Caramel Apple

Once completed, guests place the matching sticker using on the exact spot of the map where they found the statue to notify the Cast Members that they have found each statue seen throughout the area if they found all of them. Upon doing so, guests will receive a special sticker with an artwork of Timothy titled "Top-Nose Whiff-sistant" certifying them for finding all the Smellephant statues by placing the stickers on the correct spot where they found them.
