"Hooray for Mollywood" is the second segment of the fourth episode of the Disney Channel animated series, The Ghost and Molly McGee.

On October 6, 2021, the episode was released early on Disney+.

Synopsis[]

Molly learns that more money means more problems when she teams up with Andrea to create a scary movie.

Plot[]

The McGees and Scratch sit down for a night of movie watching and pick out a scary horror film. Unfortunately, the entire family gets bored or disinterested in it by the end. They all complain about the quality and the overall lack of scares, especially Scratch who found the depiction of the ghost offensive. Convinced they can do a better job, Molly decides to direct her own horror film with Darryl on camera and effects, Scratch as the ghost (pretending to be Molly's Canadian cousin Carl) and Libby as the script writer and lead actress Angelica. They film on the softball field and end up having trouble trying to bring everything together, ultimately ending up with slightly wasted footage.

As they head home, they suddenly run into Andrea who obnoxiously mocks them. Upon learning that they were trying to film a movie, she excitedly offers her services as she too is an actress (for commercials that is). They decide to take her up on her offer and discover that she has a large warehouse studio with sets. Libby tells Molly that Andrea changed the script right down to naming the character after herself, but she pays no mind when she sees that she had her own director's chair. When they film, Andrea shoves in some product placement and fires Darryl for her own cameraman. She shifts the film's tone from horror to a ghost romance, much to Libby's disapproval, and fires Molly for Greta Gerwig.

Realizing that their film is now in shambles and no longer theirs, Molly allows Scratch to go full ghost on the entire crew, destroying the sets and scaring everyone out, with Darryl also shaking things up. With the entire film cancelled, Darryl reveals that he managed to film all of the carnage and they head home to edit it together. The new film turns out to be a success as everyone enjoyed the outcome. However, Libby begins to suspect that there is something up with Carl as she did not see any strings in his "performance", but Molly distracts her by pointing out that she had been credited for writing the screenplay, something she always wanted.

  • A statue resembling Howlin' Harriet can be seen in the graveyard set.
    • Tombstones for her and her toes are also shown next to the statue.
  • During the filming, Andrea calls Scratch a hitchhiking ghost, as a reference to the Haunted Mansion.
  • When Darryl dumps the fake blood onto Andrea, she resembles Carrie from the film of the same name.
