The D-Reaper makes its appearance, and the Tamers see its powers firsthand as they finally rescue Calumon.
Synopsis[]
Zhuqiaomon and Azulongmon send the Tamers to rescue Calumon. Ryo Akiyama and Cyberdramon, arrive to a place where Cyberdramon senses a great power, finding Ebonwumon, who is watching the crevice where the Sovereign Baihumon is fighting "the real enemy". Cyberdramon then intends to fight anyway, but Ebonwumon threatens to fight to the end if Cyberdramon interferes. Suddenly, Baihumon jumps out and then collapses. Ryo and Cyberdramon are briefed of the true enemy's objective, and head out towards where Calumon is being held. The Tamers arrive, and see strange red blobs floating upwards, that delete anything that touches them. Zhuqiaomon ends up losing one of his left wings to them, leaving him seriously injured. Ryo and Cyberdramon arrive, and join with the other Tamers. Rika and Renamon set off after Calumon on their own, with Ryo and Cyberdramon following close behind. Rika finally finds Calumon, and they head back up. Ryo grabs her to save her from a blob. He uses a card to cause a cave in, stopping the bubbles for a while. The remainder of the Tamers start rappelling down the wall, using Azulongmon's beard to help Ryo and Rika. The bubbles break through, though, and Rika goes down to stop them, leaving Calumon with Ryo. Renamon tries to convince her to go back because it is too dangerous, however Rika convinces Renamon to show that fate is not inevitable, and then both take the literal leap of faith. In perfect understanding and trust of each other, Rika and Renamon Biomerge into Sakuyamon. The amazed Tamers watch as Sakuyamon destroys the explosion of D-Reaper blobs with a single blow. The Tamers, their Digimon, and Calumon set off with Zhuqiaomon and Azulongmon when a giant geyser of D-Reaper goo shoots out, scattering everywhere, taunting them and one of them getting a bit too close to Jeri...

Henry: "Good point."
- —Terriermon takes an expression too literally.
Other notes[]
Animation errors
- Terriermon's eyebrows are missing at several points.
Dubbing changes
- In the English dub, Rika's nipples are not visible during the Biomerge Digivolution sequence.
- In the English dub, Sakuyamon's voice is made with Rika and Renamon speaking in unison as with the DNA Digivolutions from the preceding season. However, in the original Sakuyamon speaks with a variation of Renamon's voice, with Ruki's voice only heard when she is shown speaking.
- In the Japanese version, Rika can be heard humming peacefully while Sakuyamon uses her powers and/or attacks.
Miscellaneous trivia
- The Japanese title card image is Sakuyamon.
