Lui Ohwada (大和田 ルイ Ohwada Lui?) is a character in Digimon Adventure 02: The Beginning. He claims he was the first ever DigiDestined, with his partner in the past being Ukkomon.
Eri Shimomura, one of the producers of the movie, was asked about Lui's claim to being the first ever DigiDestined with the interviewer pointing out he was younger than Maki Himekawa, Daigo Nishijima, and their friends. Eri's response was "It turns out that Lui is not exactly the first DigiDestined but rather the first child who has formed a friendship contract with a Digimon. So, he's supposed to not be a DigiDestined but rather a special and unique case."[1] This theoretically makes him a Tamer like Ryo Akiyama, since he has a Digivice but isn't considered a DigiDestined.

Lui is saved by Davis Motomiya and the others when he falls from Tokyo Tower. He claims to be the first person to have ever been partnered to a Digimon, though has no partner Digimon.[2]
