Synopsis[]
The communication disturbances continue to happen, with the news giving updates on TV. People react in hysteria, since they are unable to connect to the internet, call anyone on their phones, make card payments, watch TV, or even drive anywhere safely as the traffic lights aren't working.
Mayu Nozomi charges into battle to fight Greymon himself and save Riko Nozomi, punching it with his own fists. As he does, many other Digimon continue to cause havoc across the City. He is shocked when his punch knocks Greymon over, and compares it to a comic or cartoon. Riko thanks him for saving her, though Agumon quickly points out that Greymon had got back up. Riko tries to use Mayu's Data Link Digivice to digivolve Agumon into Greymon, though Mayu correct her and says that since this is Agumon (2006 anime) — it would actually digivolve to GeoGreymon. GeoGreymon fights Greymon, and as it does, Riko pushes Mayu out of the way and tells him to leave since it was so dangerous. Instead, Mayu tells Riko to go collect the other Digimon — which she and a nearby Terriermon and Wendigomon agree to do.
With no one coming out to check on all the noise, Mayu decides that he really is in a dream and wonders how he can wake up. With him distracted, he is almost killed by Greymon — but gets out of the way at the last second. GeoGreymon tells him that even if it *is* a dream, he shouldn't waver as if he doesn't face head on he'll still die.
Riko and the others collect many Digimon around the City. Some of the "captured" Digimon join their side and help them capture even more Digimon. Riko ends up not taking it very seriously though, building figures and opening trading card packs in the middle of combat.
As the battle between Greymon-species continues, Riko gets annoyed at how worked up he is getting at his old virtual pet toy. Greymon, and many of the other rampaging Digimon, hear this and get angry — asking Mayu if he doesn't need Digimon any more since he's an adult. Terriermon jumps onto his head and tells him that no matter how far apart they are, their memories together would still exist and so he shouldn't worry about it. A D-Power suddenly spawns in his hand, after which Riko shows up and throws a EX2-070: Digivolution Plug-In S card at him, telling him to use it. He does a Digi-Modify with it, and causes GeoGreymon to digivolve to RizeGreymon. At the same time, Greymon digivolves to MetalGreymon. The fight continues, and RizeGreymon is able to win.
As Mayu looks at the defeated MetalGreymon, he comes to realize just how much he actually loves Digimon and had forced himself to stop liking the franchise as he was supposed to be an adult. He realizes that he just can't give up his memories with his Digimon, and asks MetalGreymon to stay with him forever. A Digivice spawns in his hand, with MetalGreymon now back inside it. Riko shows up with a large amount of Digimon and merch, happy at the fact they had gotten so many friends.
Keramon shows up and points out that Mayu had finally remembered...with MetalGreymon's v-pet suddenly breaking in his hands. It insults him for closing the Digital World, causing an infinite number of Digimon to die and that being "together forever" was a lie. It tells Mayu it will make him understand just how the Digimon felt when they were abandoned by Mayu and digivolves to Kurisarimon.
